Sky HD in a caravan

I have multiroom ( HD & Sky+ ), I am thinking of upgrading to both boxes, HD. I want to ( eventually ) use the 2nd HD box at weekends in my caravan. I wonder if anyone could clarify the following points :
1. I know I have to enter into a new contract for 12 months that entails permenant connection to my home phone line. Do Sky monitor this connection for the full 12 months. If not, how long ?
2. Do I have to have both the cables from the dish connected to the new box, in addition to the phone line, for 12 months ?.
3. My initial enquiry to Sky suggests that I have to pay full price ( £199 ) for my new HD box in addition to the £300+ plus I paid for my first Thompson box. ( early adopter ). Does anyone know of a way to get the 2nd box cheaper?.
4. My Thompson HD box has a Component output as well as an HDMI output to get HD. Does the " new " boxes only have a single HDMI output. ?
Apologies if these points have been covered before, I am not sure where to look for previous answers. Any feedback very much appreciated.

1: Multiroom requires both (or all) boxes connected to the same phone line for ever, not just 12 months. They make regular callbacks to confirm they are both connected to the SAME phone line.

If you take your box on holiday don't plug it into a phone line while away. If it's only away a short while you will probably get away with it, but make sure it is plugged back in when you get home.

2:A sky HD box will work with limited functionality (i.e can only record one thing at a time) with just one feed from the dish providing you select "single feed mode"

3: a second hand box from ebay or possible a new one from some on line dealers is your only chance of a cheaper box.

4: new boxes only have HDMI (and scart etc) If you must have component out, a second hand thomson is the only answer. Check with the seller first as even the later thomsons dropped the component sockets.

Technically the multiroom T&C's require all multiroom boxes to be at the same permenent address - so moving one to a caravan might technically breach the T&Cs.

If you have multiroom they do monitor it. It is a condition of multiroom that all boxes are permanently connected to the same telephone line - it's not just for the first 12 months but for the lifetime of the multiroom service. Sky do check and do apply additional charges if you do not.

The call home signal comes over the satellite link so at least one connection has to be in place (you can use single feed mode with the new EPG is you like) and the box powered up- otherwise the callbacks will not happen.

Buy secondhand. You might find a new box cheaper on ebay - but the provenance of those is doubtful as £199 is less than Sky's wholesale charge to independent retailers.

That is correct

Just on this point, when i got my multiroom installed not that long ago,the installer never ran or connected any phone lines to either of my boxes ( i'd already had sky+ for about two years without a line connected ) I even left broadband filters for him to use in case sky didn't supply them. When my wife asked him if he needed then he told her as i hadn't had a line connected before i wouldn't need to do it now.

Thanks for feedback. One of the reasons I asked about permanent connection is that the engineer who fitted an aerial to my caravan ( & fits to many other caravans as a big slice of his business ) said that Sky only monitor " for about the first 3 months. "
Again, thanks for your info.
