What channels stopped at 11am this morning?

I know BBC One, the BBC News Channel and Sky News would have but I want to know all the other channels who observed this morning's 11/11 silence.

I might have guessed this thread was coming. Is there some real point to your query?

No idea, as I could not check as I was observing the two minute silence at the time. My TV was on BBC1.

I know Radio 2 did, and then my phone went off, it was work, almost told them to call back again in a few minutes, but the moment had been lost.

BBCRadio3 went silent at 11am.

Radio4LW would have as they were covering the service; Radio4FM (which was broadcasting the normal schedule) also had the two minute silence.

Don't know about Radio1 and Radio2 though.

BBC Radio 1 did. BBC Two didn't because it had Cbeebies on. ITV1 had news on before while I was flicking a minute before 11 so probably did.

CBeebies on BBC Two was scheduled to end at 11am so I'm surprised they didn't recognise the 2 minute silence. Unless it over ran perhaps.

I was really disgusted at BBC2 for not observing the silence.

CBeebies ends at 11.00, it would have been a good way to inform children of this event.

Because children really understand that kind of thing....

Remembrance facism seems to be increasing....

"YOU WILL WEAR A POPPY!" "YOU WILL OBSERVE THE SILENCE!"

How about people, like me, who choose to do it in their own, private manner.

There's always the off switch

I saw that this morning when I went downstairs and switched it on. They showed quite a few people all over the UK observing the silence (I think).

I was surprised BBC Two didn't do anything. I was away but recorded both BBC2 and ITV1 to see what they did. ITV had the news summary (normally on at 11:25) at just before 11 then it had the 2 min silence while showing various locations with troops and other people standing in silence, until the 2 mins was over then showed the cannon being fired.

BBC2 seemed to go from Cbeebies into an old black and white film (I think, didn't take much notice of the film). Seems a weird thing to do anyway, but to not have any sort of recognition is quite surprising.

What is even more baffling, next Wednesday BBC Two is showing a morning film 'Odd Man Out' at 11.05am. If they would have done that this week, they would have been able to recognise the silence as there would have been the 5 minute gap

BBC 2's brief is to provide an alternative to what is on BBC 1 - BBC 1 is always planned first and they always carry the Silence just as they always carry the Cenotaph ceremony and the Festival of Remembrance, they are in fact regarded by the BBC as among the most important programmes they produce in the course of the year (I believe the Cenotaph event has been shown every year since 1946 by the BBC which must be some kind of record). Surely if you want to watch the Silence you can only watch it on one channel at once so in a way it doesn't matter what other channels are showing.

It's nothing to do with wanting to watch it. Channels usually do is as a sign of respect from them. Just because BBC One did it, doesn't mean BBC Two doesn't have to do it.

Yes they did. This Morning resumed after a weather forecast and commercial break.

If I want to observe the silence, I'll just turn my TV off at 11am?
