I understand he`s suffered the Porky Parry syndrome.

He`s had an operation and is recovering. I think Mike Dickin is a fairly lage guy so it maybe his heart. I think he`ll be back, no worries.

There's no way talksport would give mike dickin the sack, the man is pure class on the radio even if you hate him you gotta love him at the same time he's quality.

Latest News: Ian Collins Leaves Weekend Show on talkSPORT
Added: Saturday 20th November

Ian Collins has announced that he is leaving his weekend show to join Mike Parry for a new-look weekday mid-morning news and current-affairs show on talkSPORT.

Mike Dickin, who has been talkSPORT’s mid-morning mainstay since Derek Hatton left the station in early 2000, is currently absent from the station following a “medical procedure” and is likely to be away from the station for a number of weeks and possibly months.

Collins leaves the evening weekend show two and a half years after taking over from sacked Tommy Boyd in May 2002. He will be joined by Alan Brazil’s former sparring partner on The Sports Breakfast, Mike Parry, who himself has been away from the station for a number of months following a heart condition. Parry is currently on the heart transplant register.

There is no news as to who will be replacing Ian Collins on a permanent basis, who hosts his last weekend show on Sunday 21st November. However, former LBC and Capital FM presenter and newsreader Howard Hughes is favourite to fill the gap left by Collins.

The new-look weekday schedule on talkSPORT is as follows:

1am Mike Mendoza 6am The Sports Breakfast with Alan Brazil and Graham Beecroft 10am Ian Collins and Mike Parry 1pm Hawksbee and Jacobs 4pm The Game with Patrick Kinghorn and Tony Cascarino 7pm Evening Kick-Off with Adrian Durham 10-1am The James Whale Show.

Last night, I heard the odious Ian (Diamond Geezer) Collins boast that he will host a new TV show on his Masters's Voice Cable Channel Company: Sky #125, from 4pm to 10pm. Thank God, Telewest don't take this Channel; what we could be worse, seeing this right-wing meat-head preach to the converted.

I think you wanna listen more closely because that's not what he said at all.

Talksport TV is on Sky Channel 235 between 4pm-10pm and shows Drivetime and Evening Kick-Off. No Ian Collins during that time...

Also, just because it's there, why do you have to watch it? It seems from your post that if it was on you would have to watch it.

Same reason as people feel compelled to stare at a car accident - TS is compulsively dreadful radio.

Poor old Dicken. I very much doubt we will hear him live from his hospital bed ( a la Parry) giving us the gory details of what his 'procedure' actually was. Dicken seems a terribly private man - one whose health will never be in question other than to his close friends and family. As for his old slot on TPJ...that is now a no-listening zone for me. Collins and Parry are too dreadful to be compulsive.

Ah! TalkSport the natural remedy for the PC brigades BBC 5 Dead, long may Dicken and Collins, Parry etc.. broadcast. and remember folks you don't have to listen if you don't like it. just move on to something you like.
There now, that didn't hurt did it.

If you genuniely believe him to be odious why on earth were you listening? It's not like it's a surprise to find him broadcasting his Friday show he's been doing for 2.5 years.
It's a shame to lose him from weekend lates, I've enjoyed those shows a lot in the last year or so since they shifted up a gear. However, good luck to him with this daytime show. I'd suspected it was on the cards for a couple of months, but hadn't expected the Parry factor.

I stand corrected Geoff, Old Mate. Happily for me, I still won't be able to view his Ugly Mug. Your post #4 looks suspicously like a Press Release - you don't happen to work for talkSPORT Radio. No, it couldn't possibly be; that's just my fevered left-wing imagination working overtime, isn't it ?

See my previous rant as to why I find talkSPORT Radio so fascinatingly repulsive.

So, on this occasion, his health certainly is in question.

I love that catchphrase, hope he get's better soon.

Firstly I hope Mike Dickin gets better very very soon, but the mid morning show will be a no go zone for me too now. I do like Mike Parry, but I listened to the show a couple times last week and thought it was very poor. The only good to come out of this is Ian Collins no longer doing the weekend overnight slot, but as I listen to Tommy Boyd on Sat night on SC radio now it doesn't really matter anymore.

I also listened to the morning show with Collins and Parry and wasn't too impressed, they seemd to be doing the "good cop bad cop" routine where one argues for a topic the other against.
Why do they need two presenters? Dickin did ok on his own.
Having two presenters means twice as much yap from them with even less time for the callers.
I hope Dickin gets his old morning spot back, and these two go elsewhere. Parry should stick to his sport subject football, rather than trying to do Mike Dickin's job.

I'm afraid that I found Mike Dicken to be a very rude man on many occasions - he gave the impression that he was doing the world a favour by opening his mouth. HOWEVER....this morning slot has gone down the pan since this other pair took over. WHY do they need TWO people where ONE was quite sufficient??? Is it 'jobs for the boys' or what?? At least Mike Dicken had a good 'phone-in and he covered some really interesting and controversial subjects. The pair of jokers who are now in this slot sound as though they would not know an interesting subject if it smacked them in the face. Why couldn't James Whale do the slot - at least he's got something to say???? Talk Sport will lose many listeners as a result of this change and I doubt whether they will return. For crying out loud, bosses at Talk Sport, DO SOMETHING with this morning slot - it was too good to spoil in the way these jokers are doing.

I have to agree that James Whale does a good job when he fills in on the morning slot, that suits me fine but those who listen to his show at night I am sure would not want to lose him. I also have to agree that the station will probably lose listeners in the morning, but lets face it the station seems to be in freefall at present. I use to be an avid listener, but now I can rarely be bothered with it, which is a shame as I enjoy speech radio.

Mike Dickin will be replacing Ian Collins on the Weekend Evening Show on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights between 10pm-1am on talkSPORT.

Dickin, who has been absent from talkSPORT in recent weeks due to illness, has been replaced on his mid-morning show by Ian Collins and Alan Brazil's former sparring partner on 'The Sports Breakfast' Mike Parry tackling the big current affairs and news issues of the day.

On Friday and Sunday evening, Dickin will host his phone-in show between 10pm-1am, however on Saturday evening, he will get underway from 11pm because of Howard Hughes and 'The Unexplained' show at 8pm.

That is a really bad mistake by Talksport, if true. Bye bye listeners.

Dicken trades on the bile created by the Daily Mail et al on weekdays. I've seen my parents go for it. It's utter hysteria. it won't work at weekends.

You're quite right of course - I mean Dickin at weekends? It'll never work! Obviously you're thinking of a different Mike Dickin to the one who had a successful five-year stint doing the late-night slot on talkSPORT (formerly Talk Radio) before he went daytime?

How do you define successful? I presume most of the 5 years were on the Ill fated Talk Radio, which was forced to relaunch due to low listening figures. how long did it take the new bosses to shift him onto mornings, to stoke up the Daily Mail brigade?, his only audience?

The ill fated Talk Radio? You mean the one who had more listeners than talkSPORT and especially the one who had more listeners pre-Kelvin MacKenzie? The station relaunched in part because Kelvin wanted a male bias so it was more attractive to advertisers.

Mike moved to mid-mornings in either 2000/2001 when Derek Hatton was moved (initially to BIG AM and then gardening leave before rejoining Century)...

I think Talk Sport is fantastic radio! Really refreshing!

Am a big fan of Hawsby and Jacobs in the afternoon. Especially their competitons which are so stoopid even they don`t know the rules! They are great at takin the pee out of Alan 'mornin' Brazil and Beeky!

Horrrrrrrrrrrrrse!

The problem is that H and J are the only good things on the station.

Virtually all the other output follows the same simple formula...

Presenter A takes a completely opposite viewpoint from Presenter B, multiplied by 3-4 hours.

In the case of Adrian Durham the topic is usually limited to 'Sven is crap and must go - or Man Utd are finished'.

I shall not miss Dickin. He is quite frankly dull, bigoted, uninterested in the world and sounds like he's talking whilst eating a pie.

Thus far Collins and Parry have been an improvement.

I am glad to hear Dick Mykin will be returning to a later night and weekend slot on Talk Prune Juice. Ideally, he should have replaced Charlie 'Can I Eat Your Liver, Fox?' Wolf for the Graveyard stint, then Mike could have told his anecdote about the hooker and the tapping on the Travel Lodge window once again.

So....in other words, Mike Dickin has been kicked out. Why can't we be told the truth.......all this nonsense about a 'health problem'. Mike Dicken does not suffer from health problems as we all know. He is a pain in the a** but he presided over a very good phone-in each morning nevertheless. All we have now are two blokes, one of whom sounds VERY argumentative (no wonder he's supposed to have a heart problem). Today we were 'entertained' to his symptoms as he had a 'private' discussion with a cardiologist - I do NOT wish to hear details about his supposed erection problems!!!!!!! BYE BYE TALK SPORT - you were good while it lasted.
