The Tonight Show With Jay Leno - Our Petition - Misson Completed!

This is just a huge bit of news, that I thought it deserved a new thread. Our petition means that CNBC Europe will now be showing Jay Leno every weeknight, along with Conan.

We did it everyone! We have changed CNBC Europe's schedule!

Dear Mr Hadley.

I am writing to thank you for your recent e-mails asking for Jay Leno to be screened during our weekday schedule. The opinions of our viewers are taken very seriously at CNBC Europe, as we are constantly looking for new ways to develop our programming to fit the needs of our audience. Your opinions, and those expressed by the individuals on your petition have been fed back to the leadership team at CNBC Europe for consideration.

I am very happy to announce that both The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with Conan O'Brien will now be appearing on CNBC Europe every night during the week (Monday - Friday). This change to the schedule will come into effect as of May 9th 2005.

Thank you once again for your input on this matter. I sincerely hope you continue to support the channel, and that you enjoy watching these shows in their new timeslots.

Kind regards

Dear Paul.

Jay Leno will be airing at 10:00 (UK Time), and Conan O'Brien will follow at 10:45.

Many Thanks
Richard.

Yeah I would imagine so, because 10pm in America is only something like 4pm or 5pm in America. They wouldn't air it first over here before America sees it.

It only took us from October last year to April this year to get it back. And it sounds like our hard work has paid off. Thanks to brooksielad for starting the petition up in the first place.

Yeah. Well done CNBC for listening to your viewers. Thanks. Also, I emailed them back suggesting an 11pm (UK Time) might be more appropriate if they want to get even more viewers.

I don't think they'll put it on at 11, as they show the NBC News live at 23:30.

The schedule will probably be

22.00 Jay Leno (advert free to make it 45 mins)
22.45 Conan O'Brien (again, ad free)
23:30 NBC News

All we need now is a petition to ITV2 for them to show The Late Show with David Letterman because they are giving up on it in May.

All they need now is something for 9pm.

22.00 The Tonight Show With Jay Leno
22.45 Conan
23:30 NBC Nightly News

Do you think they will do reruns on their current weekend slots too or ditch it from the weekend schedule?

They're not. I had an email back saying there is just a couple of week's gap between when the old contract ends and the new one starts, so it will be back 2 or 3 weeks later - after the break.

CNBC don't subscribe to BARB so it appears that ratings don't matter to them.

Why can't you see them keeping it? I don't think they have to get rights to show it, because they own it - right? Therefore, it won't cost them anything.

Just got another email back from CNBC Europe...

"No, there will be a delay of 3 days."

There you are then.

According to Sky.com its part of the package line-up and its not mentioned on FreeSatFromSKy.com...so I presume it isn't actually FTA.

I've just emailed Digital Spy for a story suggestion.

Anyways, no one answered me about whether or not CNBC Europe actually have to pay any costs out for showing Jay Leno everyday on their channel, considering they own the programme anyway?

I think they'll have to pay something for it, EG. Paramount couldn't show Paramount films for free on their channel.

I would imagine they can re-lay CNBC US, NBC News, MSNBC for free but not one of NBC's main prime-time shows.
