CBBC's UK Top 40-axed?

Heya,

I've just heard from Andrew that it will be the last UK Top 40 next week. Is it taking or break or being axed?

I have a feeling that this could be because of TOTP moving to BBC2 perhaps at 6pm so there's no need for the UK Top 40 on CBBC anymore, which is a shame.

Either way, it's a shame that it is going but it is nowhere near as good as it was in the Konnie and Adrian days where they had nice layout, set and graphics. The CSO colours makes it look like something on CBeebies.

Hmm, well havn't they jsut redone the graphics and such, so if thats the case I doubt its going forever - but then again, why would they stop a chart show which in theory needs to run every week....

I think you should point out its on CBBC Channel Sundays 6pm-7pm before people get confused with Radio 1s Top 40 Show.

Anything that means less of Andrew Hayden-Smith on our screens is a good thing!

No chart show can be good these days, anyway, with the amount of rubbish in the charts.

Guys, it does indeed look like it's been axed as Andrew said "welcome to the last ever UK Top 40 on CBBC".

Looking at the listings, it looks like it's being re-placed by the crappest show, Hollywood 7 double bill. Is this really going to get more ratings? A flopped band so-called "acting" to a dire script, isn't it a bit dated now.

Does anyone know why it's been axed? Are they aiming for a younger audience or will there be another music show coming? I prefer the first choice myself they probably think Hollywood 7 is more for there age group, oh purrleese!

Maybe they will move it to BBC3? I know it would have to be an hour later atleast, but it could be better suited on there to try to get a wider age range...

...strange seeing how recently they re-did the graphics

This didn't seem to me like a final show which was sad as they didn't have any special features, not even Adrian or Konnie!

If they were to axe it they should have when Adrian and Konnie left in the studio, better graphics etc.

SACRILEGE!!! Hollywood 7 was class albeit not as good as LA7, the best of all the series and the funniest. All those S-Club shows were my guilty pleasure in the early noughties. Hollywood 7 had the best songs in it though.

When you think about it, the new-look UK Top 40 only started in February or March I think so they've axed a matter of weeks after they redid it. They clearly don't know what they're doing because why would they update a show they were going to axe?
The CBBC channel is in a sorry state at the moment. The new presenter called Andrew is blatently a cast-off from Citv's exodus of presenters and is a bit of a clone of the other new boy Matt, who is actually good. Devon Anderson is one of the worst CBBC presenters they've had in years who after being around for a few months is still making horrible unproffesional errors like introducing a show after it has just been introuced by one if the more expierienced and competent presenters like Mohini.
The programmes themself have gone downhill too. Saturday Morning was an exact simulcast with BBC ONE up until a couple of weeks ago taking away 3 hours of space for other programmes. Lick It and Stick It is an excuse to bung a 5 year old repeat of SMart in the schedules and the formerly coveted Saturday 6pm slot is now occupied by repeats of The Mysti Show, a disaster of a show in its first run. The only programmes really worth watching on the channel that used to be a place to catch a good kids show every now and again, is the cartoons and the repeats of The Wild House.

Isn't TOTP moving to sunday nights still. If so, having 2 chart shows on the same night by the BBC seems kind of silly, which may explain the axe.

The younger presenters on CBBC such as Devon and Anne Foy are terrible.

Now I know CBBC is trying to relate to their target viewers by adding these presenters, but the likes of Mohini and Sophie are much more pro.

How about having a CBBC Classic hour between 6-7pm each day, reshowing the classic kids dramas we all harp on about

well when Konnie and Adrian left, maybe they weren't getting many viewers so decided a change of presenter and when that wasn't working, they axed the show got rid of the sudio and used it 4 sumthing else and put Andrew infront of a screen!! Myabe thats what happened!! And i agree for the little i've seen of Anne Foy and Devon 9or whatever his name is!!) they are pretty rubbish and have been in other CBBC shows before!!

The UK TOP 40 is a great music show. But the show has changed since the new look and the new presenter. The graphics are crap and im just waiting for them 2 turn off and see Andrew standing in front of a blue screen. Sad 2 see the show go though.
