Sony Ericsson K750i probs
Got this phone the other day and on the whole it is a fantastic piece of kit. I do have one problem however nad wondered if anyone is having similar troubles...
If you leave the phone alone (i.e. don't touch any of the buttons on it) for around an hour it seems to shut itself off. It still shows the correct time in the clock screensaver thing but none of the buttons on it work. The only way I've been able to get it working again is to pull the battery out, stick it back in and then switch it on. This has happened to me 3 times now; when I first got it I stuck it on my bedside table while I slept only to find it would switch on again in the morning. did the same again last night, and I also left it alone while I watched Mission Impossible on ITV2 earlier this evening. There is no mention of anything in the instruction manual and the fact that the screen saver clock still shows the correct time makes me think it is in some kind of hibernation mode, but why do none of the buttons work?! Any help greatly appreciated! |

I got this phone 2 days ago. Luckily (touch wood) I haven't experienced any problems (and I'm really hoping I won't)
There are alot of posts being made on various forums (google brings up alot of info) with regards to the exact same problems you're having. I was talking to someone and she said she'd been told that if you take the battery out of the phone and look up inside there is a line which goes similar to: 05w19 the end is the weeks of production or something, anyway she said after weeks 20 the phone is generally more reliable, before this time is the 'dodgy' batch (currently SE are apparantly saying they'll update the firmware shortly) Rumours or not I don't know?.. Mine is week 19, maybe I'm lucky? maybe she's talking crap? who knows... I'd get it replaced if I was you, while you're still eligible |

I rang the Sony Ericsson help line and they said they were gonna put some new software on the website within the next 2 weeks to fix this problem.
The people over on the expansys forums are saying however that it must be a hardware fault because a couple of users have different software versions and are getting the same problems. Still gonna send mine back to O2 though for a replacement! |

Well, o2 told me they were taking delivery of new stock on the 10th of June and they'd get it out to me on or around that date.
They better bloody had!! I'm not waiting 2 weeks for my new phone, would be easier just to wait for the software fix from Ericsson and fix it myself. |

O2 seem to be on a mission to bring down the reputation of Sony Ericsson.

If you check this thread (http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=92737) if tells you about firmware, and if you check this thread (http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=92915) it discusses the standby crash problem. Although you handset may 'seem' to not be affected, the firmware is still very buggy, and it would be recommended to upgrade as soon as the new firmware comes out on SEUS (sony ericsson update service). |

Good news!
The firmware update is now available from the SE website and the guys in the Expansys forums aren't reporting any of the problems described so far in this thread. http://www.expansys.com/forum.asp?code=K750I_BLACK Click "K750i freezing on idle" thread Full instructions on how to update the phone are also on the SE website. |

Did you install the update USB drivers first? I was having trouble with mine, changed the USB port my cable is plugged into, followed all the instructions on the website to a T and now its on its way.
Check out the drivers update pageon the support pages for the k750i on SE website and get them installed first then try to update the firmware. Theres a bit more help on the Expansys forums - link posted above. |
