The Big Holby City Thread

I have decided to start a thread where The Holby City fans, like me, can discuss the serial Drama with spoilers IN TAGS. This is a thread for discussion of episodes, characters, storylines and what we think might happen and spoilers IN TAGS ONLY.

There is never Holby City threads so this one should just keep going for all questions coments on episodes and just general holby city chatter.

I haven't watched Holby City in ages until the other night. Why does the hospital look so different, is it a different ward or what?

I think its becuase recently they've gone for one of those really expenseive cameras theat makes it look like its being shown at a cinemar. Also the was that big accident and part of the hospital had to be rebuilt.

Please tell me this. I've just read that Seb Castang was in the latest episode of Holby City. According to the IMDB he played a character called Tim Wellmann. Can anyone tell me more about it?

His character was visiting a friend in hospital who had been admitted because of a deterioration in a congenital heart condition... it turned out that he and the friend had been boyfriends but Seb Castang's character had finished with the other.

Oh yeah, I miss Meyer! And Janice Taylor too...I was thrilled to see the actress in the Smoking Room.

Here in NZ we are only up to when Campbell-Gore is running Darwin.

O, dear God!!! Don't tell me Diane was with Owen as well?! The last episodes we've had in Serbia are from the 2002/2003 season (I think), in the last episode Owen was making out with Chrissie, his ex-wife - after being involved with her mother! I liked the show at first when it focused a bit more on the patients, but I got sick with all the silly soapy storylines. Diane has been involved with every possible colleague, except with Alex (with whom it always seemed she would get involved, as they were always flirting), and the whole thing with Owen/Chrissie/the guy Chrissie had an affair with/Chrissie's mother was just ridiculous!

BTW, I don't think Owen is gorgeous. The only guy who I thought was gorgeous was Alex, but he's gone. Out of the guys left on the show... well, Art Malik isn't bad despite the age and the semi-baldness. I like Ric, though not exaclt in 'that' way. I guess there must be other new male characters that I haven't seen.

Has anyone been watching the repeats on uktv Gold? It just reminds me how fantastic Holby used to be! Bring back Mayer and Paediatrics in my opinion!

I like Ric, but not Owen or Zubin but OH MY GOD ALEX WAS GORGEOUS!!! Do u get 'Murder In Suburbia' in Serbia Ivana? Because that's what he's in now, although it's not a great show really but the actor's doing very well for himself he's been in a film called 'Creep' and some other one with Grace from 'Will and Grace'.

I used to watch Holby religiously but, as others have said, it went downhill when Meyer left. Back then it was really classy. Does anyone remember the 'who killed Victoria' storyline? brilliant.

It was and it was genuinely shocking at the time. But they have killed off far too many cast members for a death on HC to shock anymore

No, we don't get Murder in Suburbia. Which channel is it on? If it's on BBC then I'm 100% sure we'll get it soon because there's one channel that has a contract with BBC and shows their programmes all the time.

It's on ITV, unfortunately, but hope you get to see it anyway!

The one character I absolutely loathed was Sam Kennedy. She was an evil cah!

Is she the one that sort of had a thing with Alex? Or was it that they used to see each other? If yes then i really couldn't stand her.

Holby is better than Casualty, though it used to be A LOT better than Casualty, but it is now becoming a bit hard to distinguish between the two in terms of quality. I wish both would go back to concentrating on the patients again rather than the doctors and nurses all the time, yeah the main characters need stories but they're being given too many, a line has to be drawn somewhere between how much airtime is given to each.

Connie is a fantastic character though I must say...

Sam Kennedy was the one Alex was sleeping with when Victoria was engaged to that drug addict doctor Guy Morton. Later Sam got with Ric but was the one that convinced Jess to have the abortion after Alex got her pregnant. Ric and Sam were supposed to get married, but luckily Ric was late for the wedding and she and Ric decided to call it off. She got back with Alex again and then decided that Meyer was playing god with his patients and after he fired her, she started the inquiry that led to Meyer's duties being restricted and then led to Meyer quitting!
