Mtv Select

Does anyone ever remember that Show on MTV called MTV select? with Donna Air and Richard Blackwood as the main 2 hosts.

I wish they would bring that show back to MTV it was great and the Hosts were really good on it, it was one great MTV show LOADS better than TRL. I use to love coming home and putting my feet up to watch it MTV have never had a better live show since that went.

So does anyone remember the show? and What did you use to think about it?

Someone was talking about it the other day and they reminding me of this classic;
Richard 'least famous man in Britain' Blackwood - "Who is da caller?"
Caller - "Steve is da caller"
RB - "Who is da man?"
Caller - "Richard is da man!"
I think they had variations on it though, I didn't have cable at that point so only saw it round mates' houses.

Oh I loved this programme

They played a game where you had to guess the video from cryptic clues

Richard Blackwood actually released a single "Who is da man" because of this show.

And that other, the cover of his uncle's song. Can't remember what it's called now though! Then he got that awful show on C4 and has been trying his hand at rubbish ever since.

It was a great show, what has happened to Richard Blackwood? , he seemed to do a couple of tv shows after Select not seen him on TV in ages.

LOL i remember the tune he did "Whos Da man" lol , he was so funny when he was on select, i remember people use to say hes gonna be the UK version of Eddie Murfey .

Donner Air was cool aswell is she doing anything? i know she had a baby but not seen her in ages.

Shame MTV Select went , use to be funny seeing the cpeople outside from the window in the back holding signs up and stuff

I used to love select! I was so sad when my dad decided to get rid of sky Eventually when i moved out i got cable and what did i find, no more select with donna and richard - gutted!

As for Donna, I know her and her husband opened up a new casino in Newcastle a while back, one of the bars in the casino is called "air bar" lol. From what I have seen in the papers she's been consentrating on her organic baby food products, but now she's going over to LA to look at TV/Film projects.

yeah isn't Donna Air's husband one of the Goldsmith clan, worth millions. No wonder she is being a full time mother I would

Wasn't the studio all padded with something and all white.

Hmm thinking of the format

There was the countdown, some requests, maybe an interview , what else

I remember Select from the very early days of MTV Europe. With several presenters including Eden (the shaven haird Israeli woman); Lans (the long haired German) and of course the more recent ones including Donna Air and Richard Blackwood.

Speaking of Donna Air, anyone else remember her classic interview with The Corrs? She asked them how they first met!!!!!

The ending of MTV select was the point where MTV started going downhill rapidly- ending up as the music-less American Reality shite channel it is now. Though MTV had been slowly going downhill from around 1998 onwards, it was still watchable until around 2003.

I did love the show but it was not as good as The Phone Zone/TOTP@Play on UK Play. It was the greatest!

Yes I remember the really early Select with Eden on MTV Europe. Then when we got our own MTV UK and our own Select. I actually used to rush home from school and then work to watch it, Donna Air and Richard Blackwood were the two main hosts but others who hosted it included Cat Deely, Kelly Brook, June Sarpong, Russell Brand, Ben Shepherd, Edith Bowman, Zane Lowe, Sarah Cawood, Natalie Casey and Lisa Snowdon . All of whom have gone onto bigger things. There was also an Irish bloke who hosted with Lisa and Emma who went on to present Live and Kicking for a while.

It was a great show and reminds me of the glory days of MTV UK. Nowadays its total drivel, they should bring back Select, Video Clash and Bytesize.
