Not exactly a surprise, seeing as they bought Easynet.

It makes perfect sense. Your post does not make sense.
"that makes no sense and can not see why it would be usefull at all?"
What you are saying is that it (the 1st post) cannot see why it (the 1st post) would be useful. What you meant to say was "that makes no sense and I can not see why it would be usefull at all?"
There is also no need for the question mark. You are only questioning yourself.

Back to the point; it is useful because it confirms that sky are to launch a broadband service.

Sorry but how does it confirm that Sky are going to launch a broadband service?

Sky register some URLs - how does that confirm anything?

In fact, I'm surprised someone didnt register them years ago.

You simply added other information you were already aware of, to this useful information the OP provided to reach your own conclusion that it confirms a service is being launched.

There just happens to be a company called "Sky Broadband Services Ltd" (the holding company for Easynet), and is it not broadly coincidental that the Customer service systems were undergoing 'upgrades' yesterday?

Watch this space, you may be surprised!

It's been widely anticipated for some days, that BSkyB will announce their intentions tomorrow,
as was reported in a Guardian article in June and this article from The Scotsman yesterday.

Other articles:
Independent
Telegraph
Sunday Times

OK, Steven. So - how many broadband companies do you know of that are called Sky Broadband and that are ran and managed (as proven in the whois) bSkyb that aren't anything to do with Sky Digital? I await your answer...

Hi,

Firstly, I was not my usual self last night. Personal issues may have clouded my judgement - to be honest I think last night I just wanted to have a fight to make myself feel better.

Anyway, you can write whatever you want on the WHOIS service and it's so easy to hack and amend them anyway. I could put bskyb on the WHOIS for one of my sites - would you then think Sky were offering car and home insurance because the WHOIS said it was them?

My point was that just because you register skybroadband.co.uk doesnt mean you're going to offer sky broadband, like if you register takemetothemoon.co.uk doesnt mean you're necessary gonna offer space travel tomorrow!!!

actually, looking at those 2 entries, they were registered some time ago:

skybroadband.com was registered on 25 November 1999
skybroadband.co.uk was registered on 20 October 2004

I doubt many companies with a global brandname would not have websites registered in their name by now

Sky also have other domain names registered too, skybroadband.org (20 Oct 2004), skybroadband.org.uk (20 Oct 2004). On the other hand, someone else has registered skybroadband.net, and are offering it for sale...

I'm considering registering Glenn24vmonkeyshop.com, but I won't be selling monkeys.

Just because your brain doesn't work, doesn't mean the post doesn't make sense to those whose brain does work.

Yeah, when you see some of the posts on here from those who say they work for Sky, you soon realise why Sky have such poor CS if these poster really are from Sky.
