Torchwood- Predict the ratings for the BBC2 audience

Torchwood had amazing ratings for its debut episode and the following second episode.

So I'm wondering what a realistic estimate would be for the ratings for the episodes on BBC2 tomorrow.

It got 2.4 million on BBC3, but would that mean that as so many people have already watched it on BBC3, then not so many would watch it on BBC?

Could it actually get less viewers on BBC2 because of this, or do you think might get high ratings on BBC2?

I don't know how this would work, so maybe people here have an estimate which they would expect the BBC2 airing of Torchwood to acheive.

So what would you estimate tomorrows ratings of Torchwood on BBC2 to be?

There may be people like myself who did not watch the DOGed version on BBC3 and will watch the unDOGed version on BBC2. Others may wish to view it again on BBC2 having watch it already on BBC3. Others may have decided to give it a go on BBC2 having heard the (generally good) reaction to it from friends and media reviews.

Well, a straight mathematical calculation says that, had it aired on BBC2 first, it would have got about 4m viewers. So, if it gets anything significantly higher than 1.6m tonight, then it's doing OK. I think it will get about 2-2.5m though.

Firstly you have the huge potential audience that watched "Prime Suspect" on Sunday and, as has been said, those like myself who want to watch it all over again. The other channels don't have any mega offerings opposite this week (though it's against the NTAs on ITV next Wednesday).

I noticed the BBC1 continuity announcer especially plugging the BBC2 screening as well as the BBC1 competition over the end titles of "The Amazing Mrs Pritchard" last night. No doubt BBC2 are also plugging away.

I'd expect around 5 million-ish or whatever "Rome" got in the same slot last year.

Don't forget that it's already been repeated a couple of times on BBC3 since the first showing...

I suspect a figure just slightly higher than the BBC3 one. Something like 2.5 - 2.8m.

Although those repeats have generally been very late at night.

Last night's started at 1030 so may have got a reasonable audience for the first ep at least.

Not for those of us who get up at 6. Even lasting past 10pm is good for me.

Take whatever the average viewing figures are for BBC2 at that time on a Wednesday night, and add 75%. That's my guess.

What's the prize for the closest?

I think if it was airing for the first time tonight it would get about 4.5 M however as it's a repeat I'll go with

2.6 M.

Mainly first Timers who either did not watch the BBC3 showing due to other things (Prime Suspect) or can't actually get BBC3.

The rest (say .7M) being repeat viewers, It won't include me as I already watched the repeats last night . *

I might tape it though as my rather ancient VCR refuses to acknowledge that Digital Channels even exist.

*Any word yet on what the ratings for these were?

Torchwood is an very bad programme. Bad enough to become cult anyway, just for its unadulterated appallingness

I wouldn't bet on it getting what Rome got. I'm predicting 4.1 million. I think it could easily get that.

According to this I was over-optimistic:

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...&postcount=203

2.8 million.

Although that will be an "overnight" figure, the final figure tends to be higher doesn't it?

Probably. Still watching out for the tardy "Media Guardian" to catch up with this and see what won the slot/s.

I'm honestly surprised. Considering most households can now get BBC3 I expected the BBC2 showing to be under 2 million because of it having already been on BBC3 at least 4 times before that.

Figures up now - the "Torchwood" rating is the headline for the day and MG seems impressed.

Came 3rd after BBC One and ITV. C4 and Five way back.

I expect the viewing figures to plummet with the next episode, a lot tuned in like me and were disappointed with the poor acting and terrible script.
