Virgin poor internet??

Ive got 10mb broadband but today ive been lucky to get anywhere near 2mb and ive rang Virgin CS and after a few tests and they even said using p2p can cause this to happen and I said its turned off unless I use it but the Cs bloke replied that it could still work if turned off then I said thats rubbish
So tomorrow Ive got an engineer coimg around to check my cable and moden but from looking at other forums about Virgin in my area everyones having problems with their internet speeds!!

Its probably just a problem in your area, the only thing you can really do is leave it and see if it gets any better.

I had a problem like this a few months ago and was only getting 500k on a 4mb line so they upped me to 10mb for 3 months. The 3 months ran out on the 1st of may and I'm back to 500k speeds at night

Enough of my problems, see what the engineer says, see if it gets better, if not keep ringing virgin and give them hell.

Same here in Doncaster (yorkshire) during peaktimes maybe alittle worse than you even. If you still call sales/customer service they still go on about how cable is not like adsl and you will alway max out your speeds 24/7 365days.

LIERS!

Well I bet the engineer wont find anything wrong when he comes and then its down to Virgin to compensate me for not getting what im paying for.
I only want what I'm paying for and in the last 2 months theyve messed my bill up as well so if Im not happy with what going on tomorrow im threatening to cancel all my Virgin stuff!!

They cant doing nothing about it jobbie8 they just have to many users on the network in your area. Somethins a upstream channel change might help but its all just down to high utilisation.

Apparently, according to the service status pages a network problem is affecting the north of England, and has been since 1st May.

Funny when you look at it because it STILL says that it we be resolved within 4 hours

Earlier this week my 4mb broadband was very slow in the early evening and got so bad at times it would stop working altogether on and off. By about 8 or 9pm it was back to normal. It has been ok for the last 3 evenings.
I am in Great Yarmouth.

I had the same in South Wales although mine would tail off about 7.30pm and by 11.30 it would die completely for an hour. After three frustrating phonecalls they sent an engineer out this morning but it was working perfectly. I wish they would listen when you tell them that you have tested your equipment and that it must be something outside your house at fault.

don't forget that you're sharing that 10Mbps with everyone on the same loop (so most likely everyone on the same street, at least)
