Merseyland Alternative Radio

Listening to a great station at the moment. Merseyland Alternative Radio on 105 FM in Merseyside. They are playing loads of alternative/rock stuff that you certainly don't hear on fm.

Yep, have got them on at the moment. I can get a weakish signal on 105fm here (15 miles outside Liverpool) but relaying the internet stream via my I-Trip on 104.8fm for better reception at present.

Great selection of music.

Yes... lets only abuse the pirates, and condemn them for funding terrorism (And whatever other crap is being spouted these days) if they play music we don't like eh?

Hi fellas. Yes, got it on now. 105fm, fine here in central Liverpool. Great music, I love it.

Listening to Andy Davis and Cali Blu show just now. Ha ha says coming from a boat off the Blackpool coast called the "Revenge On Ross" No idea what that's about!

I've been a listener of this station on and off for a while now and it's much better than the commercial rubbish we normally get to put up with on FM in Merseyside. I say it's superb, so Long Live Pirate Radio!

cheers,
celestial

Hey, I've enjoyed this station so much today, I've been listening on and off since about 3 o'clock. That's a record for me!

Stream quality is fine too, but I prefer FM!

cheers,
celestial

Stream is incredibly distorted. Apart from that, the website is the usual pirate pap.

I think they rebooted the stream because someone said it was distorted, does it sound ok now?

Listened on Winamp this morning - a bit better - think the stream is in mono. I didn't realise this was a pirate. Up here in the north east the last pirate went off the air in 1967. The music is good if a bit remote at times - good to recognise a tune now and again. However it is also good to hear different stuff.

I'm told the stream is direct from a radio tuned to 105 and they are broadcasting in mono. Personally I find it refreshing to hear a pirate playing decent music instead of dance/rnb/rap and they are certainly providing an alternative as there is still no legal rock station on FM in the merseyside area.

I remember listening to Merseyland Alternative radio in the late 70's and early 80's when they used to transmit on 266 metres MW.
I was living in Shropshire at the time and the signal used to come through very clearly.

Ah! haven't tried the webstream. I would presume it will be the same shortly. Maybe they haven't switched the webstream to the live output yet, as the webstream seems to be 24/7 and we know the FM is every few weekends.
Just a guess!

This is great stuff - why has legal radio been so slow to recognise the potential of a classic rock station on FM?
