PoundLand? Does Russell wander around a pound shop grabbing various items while making lewd remarks about their possible disgusting usage?
Actually, I think I've just created a new format for daytime TV: PoundShop Under the Hammer. |

I think he's hilarious, but have no idea when this new show starts.
Hopefully soon though! |

Defo some time in October. Not long to wait now.......
![]() What's everyone's problem with Russell? He's easily one of the best comedians around today and I have been waiting for some more TV from him. Looks good this Ponderland thing anyway. |

i have to say, when everyone used to bang on about him being brilliant I thought it was a load of rubbish, but his podcasts are brilliant...........if you listen to him with no opinion you'd be surprised, but each to their own, i think the Office is the most over-rated thing that was ever on TV, but others love it, so we live with it......viva la revolution Russell!

Just found this on www.thinkbox.tv:
"Over the course of six weeks Russell delves into an eclectic mix of topics including love, childhood and holidays. Supported by archive footage and his own personal reminiscences, Russell will act as guide as he discusses seemingly generic topics, makes phone calls to unsuspecting targets and features in specially shot segments." Quote:
I agree he's one of the best comedians around. I get a bit annoyed with posts asking why such and such a comedian is funny. I've said before you can explain until you're blue in the face why someone makes you laugh but it's not going to make a person who doesn't like that humour have a sudden revelation and say "Oh yes, I get it now." |

I think Russell has admitted that Got Issues was a bit of a mess and his chat show was a bit rushed. He's had some time away from TV for a while so hopefully this series will be more reminiscent of his best work, RE:BRAND on UK Play.

Yeah he was in Hawaii for 2-3 months doing his part in a proper Hollywood film, bit of a step up from the couple of low key ITV dramas he's appeared in.

I like him and am looking forward to seeing him prancing around in his tight jeans and big hair. I just hope he stops with the "ball bags" jokes .. they were getting a bit tiresome.

To be honest I don't think this will be very good. It's not the kind of thing that people will want to watch. I like Russell but I don't think it serves him well if everything on a show is about him. One thing about BBBM was that he was secondary to the show - and that was great. His "got issues" programme was all about himself and the issues he had - it was a bit pointless. I actually liked his chatshow though, as again it wasn't all about him.
But clip shows never fail to get me reaching for the remote. Presumably he will be telling us why it is funny - but most people are intelligent enough to know what is funny and they don't need to be told. Again I don't doubt Russell's wit and ability to be funny but anyone, no matter who they are become boring if all they ever talk about is themselves. |

Furthermore that's what comedians do - talk about society and themselves. Russell Brand's radio 2 shows centres around his life, and what about Chris Moyles? I can hardly say he's getting stale. I know your point was fairly constructive but it's unfair to say whether a show will be good or bad before its shown. |

Russell IS like marmite - you either love him or hate him, and I love him!
![]() Have seen him live twice and he's fantastic - also met him afterwards at both gigs and he was a darling and much quieter and more subdued than I expected - lovely man! A few people I know have been to all the Ponderland rehersals in Soho and said how great they were, but some were worried how it will come across on the TV, and show all the good stuff will be packed into the 30 minute show, but it cant be any worse than The Russell Brand Show! It's just a shame that he isn't on the TV a lot throughout the year - I know he's been busy in Hawaii and on tour, but once a year just isn't enough, Russell! ![]() My only criticism is of the Radio show........ it's been really all over the place these past few months (since Trevor left, really - I loved Trevor, and still miss him), and has no structure, which hasn't made me rush for the show every Saturday, but with the return of Matt's Cultural Review (fans of their 6 Music show will know what I mean here), it's the start of getting actual features on the Radio 2 show as 6 Music had so many great features..... Trevor's Sonic Enigma, Matt's Cultural Review, etc...... ![]() Found out the other day his DVD release date of Nov 5th has been changed to Nov 26th, dammit, and it's doubtful that The Booky Wook will be out for Nov 15th as Russell is away for the next couple of weeks in Tuscany completing it! But 'Russell Brand on Football' is due out on Nov 1st, and that hasn't been changed as yet, so here's hoping Ponderland will DEFFINATLEY be on this month as I need my Russell fix, TV wise, as I, and others, will be waiting for a little while yet for some merchandise, it seems!

Most people I know think he is a cock. But the few that I've managed to convince to listen to him on Radio 2 have been very amused.
The thing is, he aint the same on his own, but with his mate/writer/scripter Matt Morgan, he simply aint at his best. |

Russell and Matt are best mates - have been for years, and he's the brains behind a lot of Russell's work, but I sometimes think the R2 show doesnt work as well because of that - it sometimes feel they're having chats as mates do down the pub, and we, the listeners, are left out of the loop and are intruding on their chatter. Others have agreed with me, and the shows of late have seemed all over the place and without any real structure! Here's hoping with the return of Matt's Cultural Review, it will be the start of actual items on the show!
I liked the R2 shows much better with Trevor, I must admit, as he brought something more than inane chatter, and was such a great asset to the show, as he was on 6 Music! ![]() I really want Ponderland to do well I've heard all the rehearsals have been fantastic, but if not, he should leave it there and concentrate n his stand up as he's at his very best there, IMO! |
