Channel 4 HD on air now!

Name "3875"
11796H
29500
3/4

Receiving it on Humax HDCI-2000 with version 11 software, Dragon CAM and Sky card.

Currently upconverted SD but very good quality.

Lip sync slightly out but tolerable (probably down to Humax).

(Sadly not receivable on Sky HD box)

Could you also check Hollyoaks at 6.30 - that is definitely being filmed in HD!

Rd that's just a rolling promo in SD, on a DVB-S transponder, the thread starter mentions lip sync issues, there's nothing to sync to on that promo.

Presumably this new channel will appear some way up the planner with a channel number in the 300s? Is there anyway with these simulcast channels that the EPG can substitue the HD version instead of the SD version? In Wales my parents have S4C at 104 so it can be done based on your post code so why not by you box type or even I would settle for an option in the Setup.

Why the 300s?? It has been said that it will be in the group that C4+1, E4 etc. now occupy. In fact I recall it being said it will/may be channel 140.

That's a bit better. But it would still be useful if it could be substituted for 104. But thinking about it a bit more, I wouldn't want to be recording upscaled SD on the HD channel wasting HDD space, but equally I don't want to have to check every time I record CH4 if the same programme in in CH4HD (that's almost a palindrome!).
Not sure what the answer is to this one.

Hi

I have been considering getting a sky hd box to watch this C4 HD. But you are telling me this will be possible using Dragon Cam on a HDCI-2000, which I own. Can you tell me more about Dragon Cam and where to get it?

Thanks

Des

I think it is a rumour that a few people said on several forums, and it has spread.

However, Ch4 HD has been testing and now it is On Air, it seems very likely to be coming at least at some point next week.

I got mine on eBay from a dealer who guaranteed it was loaded with the right software and ready to go with a Sky card. It's also known as a T-Rex CAM. Some notes of caution however:
  • The Dragon will not refresh the codes on the card, so every 2 months or so the card must be left overnight in a Sky box
  • If the lip sync problem proves to be down to Humax, their record for fixing bugs raised by customers is not good
  • Channel 4 is expected to go FTA sometime next year so it might not be worth buying a CAM just for C4
