How is it that this result can be treated as accurate?
I don't see how the result can be treated as "accurate", seeing as I (and others I have spoken to) attempted all night to vote for Rhydian - not even getting though once, so my vote that I was trying to give could not be counted. It's not that Rhydian didn't get the votes, its that no-one could get through to give their vote. How can it be said that Leon got more votes? What, in fact, he had were lines that were easier to get through on.
Has this clip been forgotten?? This guy??! Seriously???! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWk3_gqx7-c I'm just kidding, but I am still totally in shock at the result. I didn't dislike the guy at all but the whole way through Rhydian was just in a completely different league. I have a horrible feeling that Leon will go down the Steve Brookstein route and it would be a shame for him as he seems like a nice guy. I know the judges kept commenting on how we don't have a Michael Buble-type singer in this country, but they seem to have very short memories ... Ray from last year? Surely this is what he was going for but no-one was interested and now the poor lad has been dropped. I adore swing music and would like to see Leon do well but time will tell. I hope Rhydian gets himself a good deal (but stays away from Cowell!!) |

Look, it was not just Rhydian's lines that were problematic. After SD went, I managed to vote only three times for Leon. I had engaged tones, and frequently, the automated voice 'there is a fault on this line'.....or just a blank nothing.

Another thing - when the judges were giving their final comments to Rhydian, did it not seem to you like they already knew the result? And this was a few minutes before lines closed. It just seemed like the things they were saying were almost goodbyes. It also looked to me like he sort of knew himself what they were getting at. I think I'll watch that bit again on the repeat later just to see if i'm right.

I understand what you are saying but at least you got through 3 times. I didn't get through at all!

Yes, but you STILL GOT THROUGH THREE TIMES! Rhydian's voters couldn't get through at all - which shows his lines were more popular.

Good post Captainblonde.
Good luck to Leon (sorry for saying that again! ), he does seem like a nice (if nervous) person, I'm not really a fan of Michael Buble, but Rhydian was in a different league on the night IMO. I did get through a few times but a lot of times the network was busy and 7 times (?) I got through. I started late as I didnt know text voting was banned! |

I hope the appropriate watchdogs look into this......
I didn't vote for either, but if people couldn't get through, it might explain why an utter load of tosh won it!!! |

I'm glad I found this thread - I tried so hard to vote last night and couldn't get through. I tried up to the very last minute without success. I have nothing against Leon, I just wonder how many votes did Rhydian lose because of this. I honestly don't think the results reflect what would have been the true vote tally.
I think Rhydian will do well despite the disappointing outcome. Good luck to them both. |

I didn't manage to get through to Leon on the landline and tried hundreds of times, it isn't just Rhydians voters...

Every series this happens - Pop Idol , X factor. i have heard it all before.
The lines are engaged because other people's votes are being recorded!! They would have had the same amount of lines each. Believe me they wouldn't dare rig it not after the recent phone line controversy. I wish people would accept their favourite didn't win and also accept that all three last night will get something out of this |

I had no problems getting through via a mobile and landline for Rhydian. I voted 6 times, all at different times, also got through and voted once for same difference after someone said the lines were busy. Maybe it depended on which part of the country you were in? I am in London.
