Amy Winehouse - Back to Black album sales

22.12.07

Back to Black UK sales so far: 1,729,513 - 5 x Platinum
Back to Black US sales so far: 1,323,699 - 1 x Platinum
Frank UK sales (released in 2003): 300,000 sold alone in 2007.

57 weeks in the top 20 UK album chart.

Biggest-selling album of the year. Not bad for an album released in october 2006.

Staggering numbers.

Not the best-selling album of 2007 in the UK yet. Leona could still overtake her. Those figures are total and not just this year.

Not yet, unless Leona suddenly sells countless thousands upon thousands of albums in one week.

Hence why it says "UK sales so far".

You have to admire that a left-of-centre act like Amy Winehouse is selling so well. I'm sure Amy herself didn't predict the album doing THIS well. It's follow-up will need to be pretty darn good and have to sell a hell of a lot if it's to better "Back To Black"

Amy has the best-selling album for 2007, those are the final sales chart for this year end (2007), next weeks sales are into 2008, so Leona can't overtake Amy now.

Just Google it. 5.5M in 2007 according to the first result: http://www.mediatraffic.de/year-end-albums.htm. Sales are also listed on the Wikipedia page for her album.

5.5 million is brilliant. Its still selling now as well, just outside of the Top 10. I think it really will become one of those classics that everyone seems to have a copy of. She actually has 3 albums in the Top 40 with the Deluxe Edition of Back To Black selling really well as well as Frank still up there.

Perhaps it means the music is not so left-of-centre?
