DS Ratings Prediction Game

Rules
It is very simple. Every week you will have to predict the ratings to 10 shows selected by myself. I'll try and select different types of shows to give a variety. If you have suggestions pm me. You will need to submit your predictions on the thread by a certain date which I will specify. As sometimes not all the actual ratings are discovered, there will be 5 backup ratings. They will only be used if not all the actual ratings are provided. There will be an order for the backup ratings, so if needed they will be used in that particular order.

After we find out the actual ratings, each person will be given points for every show. The points system will work as following:

5 points= predicted rating is exactly the same as the actual rating
3 points= predicted rating is 0.1m-0.3m away from actual rating
2 points= predicted rating is 0.4m-0.5m away from actual rating
1 point= predicted rating is 0.6m-1m away from actual rating
0 points= predicted rating is more than 1m away from actual rating

I'll make a table ranking everyone who played by adding up all the points together. There'll be a different table every week, so it doesn't matter if you missed one week.

First couple of weeks might be complicated, but you should get the jists of things once the game is fully underway. The concept is quite similar to the "Football Commentators game" on the Broadcasting forum. If succesful, the game might go on for a long time. Otherwise, it might be an early death- i hope not.

I would have liked to include some channel five shows. But the problem is that channel five's ratings are very rarely reported, unless it's a big show like csi. So I thought there was no including any this week. But maybe next time I'll include one.

Another problem with this is that FIVE's ratings only vary between around 0.5-2 million viewers, whereas the other channels have a lot more variation between ratings i.e ITV's 9pm slot has varied from 2m-10m this year, therefore everyone is likely to get at elast one point.

Everyones predictions are really close on BBC 2 and C4 as well so we may not see an actual clear winner or leader.

There seems to be quite a lot of divide on 'What Britain Earns' but that's a backup programme.

The points system will work as following: 5 points= predicted rating is exactly the same as the actual rating 3 points= predicted rating is 0.1m-0.3m away from actual rating 2 points= predicted rating is 0.4m-0.5m away from actual rating 1 point= predicted rating is 0.6m-1m away from actual rating 0 points= predicted rating is more than 1m away from actual rating I'll make a table ranking everyone who played by adding up all the points together. There'll be a different table every week, so it doesn't matter if you missed one week. First couple of weeks might be complicated, but you should get the jists of things once the game is fully underway. The concept is quite similar to the "Football Commentators game" on the Broadcasting forum. If succesful, the game might go on for a long time.
