My friend expressed no hositility towards George. They felt sorry for him. They said he was wearing sunglasses throughout the whole concert. Why would he do that? He didn't do that in past concerts. Let's be honest. When people do that, they do it to cover all their dilated pupils from drug use. They said he was rambling, almost forget the set list, was drinking and smoking. They also said Zee the backing singer was rolling her eyes.
On the plus side, they said he's still a great songwriter and they loved the set list, just not the way George performed them.

Gigi4 I am confused (and not for the first time in my life!!!!) but what's wrong with it? That was part of the show last night and Boy George was mucking about thru a lot of that song and just having a laugh. He also had no glasses on there! I remember him wearing shades quite a bit but he didn't have them on the whole way thru.

I don't understand about the rambling - he wasn't He was talking dead freakin' fast but he wasn't rambling and he didn't forget the set list!! He had it written down in front of him, so how could he forget it?!! Soz but don't believe that review. I didn't see him drink or have a fag during the performance - nothing wrong with my eyesight and neither do I see old Georgie boy thru rose coloured spectacles. It's my GF and her best friend (soulmate) who are the fans, so altho I do like him, I'm not what you'd call a fan. I am giving you a clear view of what I saw.

I don't know. I'm just repeating what I heard.
I have noticed in interview he's talking a lot faster than he used to.
I don't want to think this. But it seems to me he's an addict who hasn't been to treatment, so why couldn't he still be using.
I saw that video for my own eyes, and sorry but to me he seems like a total mess. It's not a good performance to me at all.

Right shame if BG's a druggie again. I thought hed got over all that. Waste of a big talent if he's on the Columbian marching powder again.

I really don't know. Maybe it's just he's changed. But everything about how he talks, sounds and his mannerisms is very different when I saw him perform in the 90's. I heard some radio interview with him and he sounded sort of hyper and strange. Not like he used to talk at all.
I'm not saying it's drugs, but in my experience when someone changes so much and is so hyper, drugs are usually involved.
I'm glad people enjoyed it, but it's not something I would want to pay to see judging from that video. That's part of the reason I didn't go, I was hesitant to pay money for something I see as unprofessional.

I am really annoyed about the writing on YouTube. That person is talking bull - every single sentence of it and I'm just about to voice my opinions on there. I am so tired of people slagging George off just for the sake of it, blaming him for just blinking and spreading malicious gossip.

None of it is true. He was a bit nervous and twitchy, and that could be down to anything - yes, even drugs but I hope not and he didn't have his sunnies on all night. He took them off about half way through - he put them back another pair back on again later but he didn't wear them all night.

It occurred to me last night for the first time ever that George probably isn't as confident as he'd like to make out. I'd never noticed that about him before but he did seem very worried on stage, although he knew everyone there loved him and wanted to see him succeed.

Maybe it's because he's been out of the music scene for quite a while that he's scared of bad reviews, failure etc. Just a guess. He has no need to be worried. Such a great talent. Whatever happened to the song 'Time Machine'? I loved it and thought it was to be released last year?

There's another video of him doing Everything I Own.
I watched it and I really don't understand how everyone can sit here and saw it was wonderful.
He was shouting most of the song, and after the song he was babbling incomprehensibly.
The man has performed thousands of times before much larger crowds than this. So to say it's all nerves is crazy.
It's obvious to me he has a serious drug problem and he's destroying his talent.
It's just sad to me and everyone is so deep in denial.

I don't think it's denial, as such, Gigi. Obviously, I can't speak for others, but we're just so hoping that George is alright and probably just trying to find all sorts of other reasons for his nervousness. I'm hoping it was first night nerves.

The fact remains however that George did NOT have his glasses on all night. The video on YouTube is enough evidence for that and there are other pictures up on the internet which show George without his glasses, so that's one rumour that can be put to bed.

No one is in denial either over his set list or his so-called drinking and smoking. He was not guzzling back booze or smoking on stage. He had a bottle of water (at least I think it was water!) and I didn't see Zee rolling her eyes at all.

The recording that's on YouTube is very poor, and if I'd seen that without actually being at the gig, I would be wondering too. In reality, it was a very different story, and that's not being in denial; I'm speaking as I saw with my own eyes.

I'm going again on Sunday. If he's still very nervous and itchy doos then, I will have to concede he has a bad drugs problem and needs help. Until then, I will reserve my judgement and just hope he had bad first night nerves.

Gigi, do you have the link to Everything I Own?

Also, I know George has performed many times before, but there is a lot more resting on this tour, and he hasn't actually toured for 10 years. It seems he badly wants a comeback and has a lot to prove, as pharoah mentioned, he may have been thinking about reviews, how he's coming across etc. The more you have resting on something, the more you get wound up.

I really hope he's alright, and as I said above, I will reserve my judgement on his (alleged) drugs problem until Sunday night.

All the proof you need here for pics of George without his glasses on stage at The Shaw Theatre.

I'm the same as you - I'm not going again till Saturday so I'll wait and see what he's like then, then make up my own mind about it all.

There was something a bit unsettling in yesterday's Telegraph where he said he'd relocated to New York and "became a coke addict." He didn't say anymore or if he'd got help for it, so there is still the possibility that he is one.

I'm thinking along those lines; I'm not in denial but will reserve my own judgement till Saturday night. Soulmate9 has hit the nail on the head - we're all just desperately hoping George is alright.

I understand everyone wants George to be all right as do I.
But I think sometimes people want something to be true, they try to make it true despite all evidence to the contrary.

If you like it, then that's great.
But I hear off key singing and basically screaming and shouting the words, not singing. His singing doesn't fit with the background singing at all.

Those were taken the 24th, not the 23rd when my friend attended. Some people are saying he was better on the 24th. I dont know since my friend didn't go to that and there hasn't been any video of the second night.

Maybe his hearing is suffering LOL it's his age!

I haven't got time now to watch things but I will tomorrow. I'm hoping he's on good form for the 1st Feb.

Guess I must have the same bad hearing because he sounds terrible on the youtube videos.
Or maybe some people have been made deaf by their love for Boy George!

From the little I've watched, the YouTube videos sound terrible but it sounds like a very bad reproduction and you can't see anything properly either. What on earth was that recorded on? Someone's mobile by the looks of things - hardly a good advert for the shows
