Madonna's new album: Hard Candy

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a9...-revealed.html

I hope Madge has done good on this but for some reason, I'm really dreading it.

I know what you mean. I have that fear with all her new releases, but was really pleased last time.

I liked Confessions, but the whole album was a bit samey. I liked her more back in the day when each track had a different feel to it, so I hope she's gone back to that this time, but after hearing who she's been working with, I really am dreading it!

if you like timbaland and justin timberlake you will love the album.....its very american urban r,n,b. I have heard 4 tracks and as much as i like madonna they do sound rather similar. perhaps i just being silly and biased as i dont like timbalands sound very much...perhaps its brilliant

I don't think she's really done an album that doesn't feel samey in years, last probably being Ray of Light. To be honest I wish she would ditch the overly mixed stuff, the voice effects etc. If the Confessions tour proved anything, its how good her voice is right now. So I'd like her to do a straight album with great vocals and strong ballads

From the tracks that I've heard so far, I'm not having high hopes for the album. I was hoping it was going to have a Bedtime Stories feel to it, but so far it just seems to sound like every other overproduced Timbaland and Pharrell track.

Like someone said, Ray of Light was the last thing she did where all the tracks sound different. As soon as she released "Music" in 2000, she became obsessed with vocoders and generic electronic beats.

I love Madonna but she did not sing live unaided on the tour (nor any live performance). Her voice goes through an auto-tuner. You can hear it clearly if you watch the dvd back.

I'm anxious about this album. I heard she did a tune with the awful Kanye.

I have to say I that too. When you're at the concert the sound is so loud you can't tell but on watching the dvd her voice sounds far too good to be totally live. I think she sings because there was a youtube vid of when she messed up the words but it just sounds too even for all the dancing she does

She's definitely singing live, there's no doubt about it it's just that it's put through an autotuner, especially the parts where she sings vibrato. It doesn't bother me though. I think she's amazing.

Yeah me too. Lets be honest- Madonna has never been about "a voice". Even she admits she's not a great singer.
Her show was so amazing she could have been singing like she'd inhaled helium and no one would care

I agree with you, especially your last sentence. I really wish she'd get back to that and go the same sort of way as Like A Prayer again. That album was full of good pop tracks, each had a different sound and there were some good ballads on there.

The album's had some good reviews:

http://jay-lovesit.blogspot.com/2008...view-from.html

There was also a very good one in the Sunday Mirror yesterday, but then it may be by people who like that kind of sound.

No doubt, Madge will come up with the goods somehow but I'm just feeling I may not like it this time around.

I don't like the idea that some tracks are "not that lyrical." IMO, Madonna's lyrics haven't been very good of late, and from the ones that are quoted on the above site, they don't sound like they're getting much better either.

Madonna's albums have been very hit-and-miss in the last 10 years but I'm sure this one will be a hit because of the Timbaland/Justin connection. Let's be honest, the tracks will be played in clubs for months and it will probably give Madge the career-boost she needs in the States right now.

The only thing that worries me though is the fact that the whole Timbaland collaboration thing is somewhat overdone. Madonna's always been known for bringing certain things into the mainstream pop scene, but now it seems she's following the crowd and doing something Nelly Furtado did 2 years ago!

'HARD CANDY' DELICIOUS NEW MADONNA ALBUM SCHEDULED TO BE RELEASED ON WARNER BROS. RECORDS APRIL 29th

28 February 2008, Burbank, California-Madonna's 11th studio album for Warner Bros. Records "HARD CANDY" is scheduled to have a global release on April 28th and a US release on April 29th, it was confirmed by her label. "HARD CANDY" (the follow up to Madonna's "CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR" which debuted at No. 1 in 30 countries and sold over 8 million copies), has been described as a brilliant up-tempo collection of 12 songs in which Madonna remains ensconced in club mode but this time adds an urban hip hop beat in collaboration with musical partners Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes and Nate "Danja" Hills. The debut single, the pulsating "4 Minutes" will be released at the end of March.

"The title is a juxtaposition of tough and sweetness%u2026kind of like I'm gonna kick your ass but it's going to make you feel good. And of course, I love candy" laughed the material girl.

Madonna, a multi-Grammy-award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, cultural icon, world renowned stage performer, video visionary, children's book author, director and documentary film maker has sold 200 million albums in the course of her unprecedented two decade plus career and is slated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10th.

This is a good write-up on Madge and the new album lifted straight off www.madonna.com

i cant wait to hear it, although a review i read in the sun today called it a very hit and miss affair and questioned madonnas r'n'b / rap inspiration for the entire album. i shall listen before buying first as i not too keen on timberland collaberations ... hope there are some more poppy moments.

I wish she would mature her music, she isn't some young philly, she needs to accept that and let the young girls be cool.
