Fast4

Just got through to a nice friendly chap at Fast4 internet who gave me the following info.

They recieved an order fom Redten on 11th March (Obviously after BT cut them Off) to switch it's customer base to Fast4.

The guy had my details and said the switch was going through on my line and would be complete by 18th March. He said that we had all been migrated (and so I'd be surprised if your MAC codes work.)

He said that the service we're being put on has only a 2gb download limit, hardly unlimited.

He said the delay is waiting for BT to migrate the service.

the following is an excerpt from Redtens T & C
"12.10 If at any time our Broadband supplier ceases to provide
services that we are unable to continue to provide any of
the Services to you, we shall seek alternative to provide and
you will then need to transfer to the new Broadband supplier.
We will not be liable for any costs incured by yourself during
this process. You will continue to pay the monthly charges
for PC/hardware you have purchased."

Looks like we might all be getting well shafted.

The guy at Fast4 said all of the customer service staff have been busy today and yesterday sending out letters to us all with our new Login details.

Anyone still with RedTen reading this who are wondering about Fast4 would do better to read the views of current customers:

http://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/forumdisplay.php?f=301

There is a lot of trouble lately as people were moved to a new contract for a 15GB cap from unlimited (well, 60GB) with just two days notice - with the small problem that it breaches the Communications Act 2003, alongside other problems. I personally am off to Be* when they become available in my town by the end of April.

Cancelling Contract with Redten/Clode

Thanks for all the useful advice, spoke to Citizen's Advice on Friday (14/3/08), and they gave me advice.
Write to Clode, copy letter to Redten, saying I hold them in breach of the contract sections 12.10 (which has the onus on me to move to another broadband supplier 12.13).
I have left the actual quote at home, when I can next get to broadband I can update with this info if required. I have cancelled my direct debit to Clode and signed up with a different broadband supplier. I have offered Clode the oppurtunity to let me buy the laptop.
I'll sit back and wait for them to sue me!

According to this info, it;s the other way round, and you are now in breach of contract:

http://redtendown.forum2u.org/be-car...eaving-t5.html

I think those of you jumping ship should know that - having been following this up with trading standards - if we jump ship WE are in breach of contract as it is a finance agreement and not a monthly direct debit direct to Redten.

As in the finance contract states that they (Clode finance Ltd) have joint liability it is them who have to ensure that our service is re-instated - NOT REDTEN's

Also, going here and entering your login details confirms your go live date with fast4:

Contract Cancellation

The advice from the Citizen's Advice Bureau was that Clode Finance ARE "jointly and severally liable" along with Redten to provide the connection, (the particular consumer act reference I don't have with me here). Therefore because they have broken the contract, I am off the hook.

And to add insult to injury, the Redten out-of-hours message, has been asking people who have problems with connection, to email them.... HOW CAN I, I have no internet connection at home?

So the CAB say one thing, trading standards something different?

well its the 18th March and no internet connection--latest from redten? theyre upgrading their servers.
I appear to have adsl connection but cannot connect to the redten server. according to NJl they only provide back bone --redten is still the isp server. cannot access this and their webmail pge is unavilble.
having previously contacted Clode to regain my connection which they promised by the end of last week, if I am not connectd by 5pm the 19th March 2008; I shall inform Clode that they are in breach of our agreement and shall receive no further monies fom me. They will also be told to uplift the computer which theybsupplied as part of the contract.
they will notget the wndows vista as this was never supplied; nor will they get the upgrades Ihave made in memory etc.
I also intend to report them formis-selling

No luck either

Hi,
could you tell me how you can tell whether you got the adsl connection and cannot connect to the redten server?

P.S. got email from CLODE stating that they are going to start charging for non- direct debit payment and late DD payments - email NOT a letter.

Can we get together to formulate a standard letter of complaint and demand for recompence?

Cheers.

The saga continues

Well, came home last night and found the previously red ADSL light on my router was a welcoming green. Switched on PC, connected to the network and... tada! Broadband!!

Phoned Sky to cancel my order from last week only to be told that they had no record of my order, my MAC code or the payment I made by credit card. No sign of the payment on my online statement either.

So, I can only imagine that the last week and a half has been a Dallas-style dream and that I've now woken up.

Must be breakfast time...

Far from it being my wish to direct folks to a different forum, but if you check out:

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...ghlight=redten

This is where a lot of Redten users have congregated. Most have got their connection back, but there appears to be another major problem. Indications are that we now have a service restricted to 5Gb per month and any extra usage is chargeable. Not what we signed up for. Action will be taken, but the more cohesive everyone is, the more effective we will be. See you there.

Yes, it's the same as before, but with surfmax after the @ instead of whatever it was.

Ah. Unfortunatley with those login details, the system log comes up a "CHAP Authentication Failure".

I guess they have forgotton about me!

Thanks

simonpearce;22168912]This has happened a few times lately - I really don't understand why people use these small companies who are simply resellers for someone else!
After dealing with Watford Electronics for many years when they were a very respected company, in both a professional and personal capacity I had no reason to doubt the integrity of Redten when they started up under the Watford banner.

Just goes to show you cant trust any one in these days of rip off Britain

Looks like NJP have had enough and cut them off, according to a posting made by one of their customers who got an email from them:

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...postcount=5776

Wonder what will happen with Redten customers next?
