Will BBC have to downgrade MotoGP's coverage in 2009 as a result of the F1?

I really hope BBC don't have to downgrade the MotoGP coverage. MotoGP's coverage on BBC at the moment is quite good, but I feel that the arrival of F1 will mean the MotoGP gets less TV time and less coverage within BBC.

Although its obviously very good for F1 fans, I simply feel that MotoGP will have to take a back-step on BBC so they have enough money & resources for the F1 coverage.

Also, could it be *a possibility* that MotoGP moves to ITV when its contract expires with BBC should MotoGP officials feel that their coverage is being downgraded as a result of the F1?

The organisers generally try to ensure that there are very few clashes between the two series. When both sports are on the same weekend, they are usually in different continents to get a time difference.

MotoGP is done by a fairly tight team from what I gather with each person doing multiple jobs, so I'd hope it wouldn't be affected. Chances are the cuts will come from football, with much less live stuff next season.

If ITV did not want F1, having (according to reports) sort of handed it back to Bernie E in order to concentrate on football, then I can't see them wanting MotoGP. And on that note perhaps their continued involvement with British Touring Cars is questionable as well?

There were no classes last year between Moto GP and F1 (the only time I think their has been once the last two year Moto GP move their race to 12pm European Time, and the F1 went at 2pm European Time) Moto GP was owned by the majority owner now in FOM, so both parties know each other well and usually work to avoid each other.

In Europe, in many countries (like Germany with RTL) the Moto GP and F1 TV contract are with the same people

Where Moto GP will suffer, is that they will probably move Charlie Cox onto the F1 coverage, and least when their an F1 race (being in an previous competetor on four wheels)

Again, for Moto GP, they will still be eurosport, and ITV probably won't take the deal with Eurosport also showing the races live, and well Eurosport Still have the A Team, Toby Julian & Randy, so Moto GP fans will still be served well

ITV bid for MotoGP on the last two rights offers.
...and Five's coverage was actually produced by Granada at one point.

I recall from the days of 5's coverage a whacking great big 5 LIVE logo in the corner, and watching one race being filmed by a camera off a pitlane monitor because they'd lost their feed.

The signs are there that the BBC have realised that a certain social group is not well pleased with the programmes that have been broadcast in recent years.

Basically for males aged 18-35, there really is'nt a great deal of stuff available on BBC. I mean all types of programming, not just sport.

If they have any sense they will spend big on sport, though.

What I would love to see on BBC1 every saturday daytime is hours and hours of sport, some live some recorded, using the red button to give 2 additional choices to the BBC1 feed as well.

And you think that would be seen as a popular move, especially by those that can tolerate some sport, but actually might like to see something else somewhere in the Saturday schedule?

Or are you joking and have mislaid the smiley?

Or maybe you are on a wind-up?

and fails to realise that the days of those programmes with varied sports are no longer relevant, and have long since gone.

It is human nature to believe that the past was always better than the present. We tend to remember the good things and conveniently forget the bad.

Remember that must-miss Saturday evening entertainment Seaside Special?
