BBC show now higher quality and have bbc dog

Just started watching waking the dead, it looks almost HD even over my scart connection and ive noticed it has a BBC logo in the top left hand corner, Does this mean iplayer is nearly here?

Argh, why the need for a DOG. Would be good if there is a quality increase as some of the VoD stuff is too heavily compressed. Waking the Dead was filmed in HD which should help picture quality somewhat.

I think so, because the iPlayer shows have a DOG in the corner of the screen. Perhaps they've begun using the iPlayer feeds now.

Ah interesting, it certainly was filmed in HD before and has appeared on BBC HD. Maybe they have changed it.

No DOG on Waking the Dead here...

VOD recording started late so cuts into the programme after it had started.

I noticed on my VOD (ex-ntl teesside) that on the listings for Catch Up TV, Waking the Dead - "BBC ONE" is in caps no with no dog, but the next episode (part 2) is listed as Waking the Dead - "BBC One" with the Iplayer dog, and it starts without the BBC One ident. The rest of the channel's name are in caps too.

Just watched Friday's Eastenders and noticed that the picture was better, and the show started at the very beginning, and finished at the end. No adverts at the start or end either.

Looks like the preparations for the iPlayer have been put into place

Yeah, just tried Fri Eastenders and it has the DOG.

Picture looks a little fuzzy to me and strobes a little.

DOG - Digitally Originated Graphic
A station logo or slogan permanently displayed on screen during a programme. Controversial due to "screenburn" issues.

http://625.uk.com/dogwatch/

The logos are called bugs or DOGs (digitally originated graphics).

Grantedsome people have switched from calling them the original name to something more viewer understandable.

It seems there's various names for it: http://www.transdiffusion.org/emc/in...ation/dogs.php
"the DOG - the digitally overlaid graphic, the permanent on-screen logo, the Bug."

am just watching that too, and noticed the DOG.

very annoying and totally unnecessary - especially as anyone has specifically selected a BBC programme, and hasn't just stumbled across a BBC channel.

wonder if it's connected with the imminent launch of the iPlayer?
