James Whale Left Talksport?

Speculation increases that James Whale has left the station.

Moz Dee has recently taken over at TS, which could be part of the problem.

However James was reassured that the lost hour would be given back to him when Talk Radio launches.......eventually.

Or even more than that perhaps.

Here is the article I think the opening poster is talking about from www.talksport1089.co.uk

Quote:
Prolonged Absence Sparks Rumour Mill for talkSPORT's James Whale
Added: Friday 2nd May

The prolonged absence of James Whale on talkSPORT’s late-night phone-in show has sparked rumours that he has parted company with the station.

Whale, who joined the station as Talk Radio in 1995, has been absent from his Sunday to Thursday late night phone-in show for the past two weeks with Danny Kelly and Max Rushden presenting the show between 10:00pm-1:00am. This trend is expected to continue into next week with Rushden presenting the majority of shows leading to rumours relating to the future of Whale as a presenter on talkSPORT.

Further strengthening the rumour has also come from the fact that the jingles for Whale’s show did not contain the words: “…in for James Whale” which is usually contained within promotional idents and jingles when a presenter is absent from the station. However, it remains to be seen as to whether Whale has actually parted company with talkSPORT despite rumours following his prolonged absence.

Nope, they would have said so on-air if that was the case. Plus, he's been seen on Sky News one day this week reviewing the papers.

Agreed. His replacement last week was a dull listen.

I'm sure I heard him with George Galloway the other night talking about the london elections, the night it was announced.

Or maybe I'm going mad...

That was Ian Collins.........The only thing I know for sure is that Mr Whale is currently in good health. Very few people know anything more.

Never listen to James now. He has become very boring. Bring back John Kearnes and Spanner.

I realise this sounds quite petty, but if it is fact that Whale has left TalkSport, I will probably give the station another go.

His show actually put me off the whole station, despite the fact I had been a listener since the Caeser test transmission on Feb 13th 1995. (and I guess the Harry Enfield-esque promo's beforehand.)

Well I always enjoyed the banter between James and Ash but I've noticed James sounding particularly cheesed off of late so it doesn't surprise me that he's left. He's threatened it on air many times. I won't be listening to Talksport any more if that is indeed the case. It's disappointing. Why can't they be upfront and admit what's going on?

Yeah, commercial stations often do this. Why can't they respect their listeners and just be honest about why someone is no longer on the air - whether they've just left, reached the end of their contract or been fired?

Moz Dee leans to the left of politics and there might be something in that.

Anyway, Talksport's a very down market station which I only occasionally listen to, but James is often quite amusing when you don't want something too serious.

I'm sure I read somewhere that he (Dee) and Gaunty were big mates and you can't get much further right than our beloved Jon.

The people that run the website don't seem to work weekend's so I would imagine it'll be updated on Tuesday at the very earliest.

Everyone is assuming that Whale has left. Is it possible that he's actually been sacked instead? Maybe he said something about the elections when he shouldn't have or something.

Then Ash would have gone, given that he has control of the dump button.

If Whale has gone then I'll be listening elsewhere from now on - Whale and Galloway were the only people I listened to as the rest of the output totally stinks.
