The Doctor's daughter

This doesnt have anything to do with the actual storyline E.G is she really the Doctors daughter, but im guessing that the upcoming episode as well as being part of the series arc is also a test run. If its succesful and people like the character of Jenny then maybe she will get her own Buffy the Vampire slayer style spinoff, i read somewhere that Russell T Davies is a fan of Joss Whedon

This is all just a theory, not a spoiler or anything.

Discuss??

I have another theory, if Jenny doesnt get a spinoff. Maybe the episode is still a test run, for when all the current companions leave maybe Jenny will become their replacement

Almost my thought.... but I'm beginning to think that Jenny has been introduced to be the first female Doctor. It seems certain that The Master is returning later on in this season, and then RTD might do the 'Reichenbach Falls' ending to pave the way for Tennants break from the show and possibly even the male Doctor theme ending..... thus testing the reception of the first female Doctor in the two free-standing episodes next year. A female Doctor is something that has been suggested and wanted in some circles for ages...

We already have two spin offs, not including K9. Is there really room for a third?

Maybe, because Doctor Who isnt having a full series. A new spinoff centred on his daughter could bridge the gap until the show returns instead of reworking Torchwood into a family show to fill the gap like the rumours have suggested.

But the episode hasnt even aired yet, i'm probably getting ahead of myself. Jenny will probably be a simple, one episode only character. Though with such a big connection to the Doctor (if he is her father) im guessing she will be much more than a single episode appearance

Is it just me that instantly though when seeing the trailer 'she'll be made from his DNA by some never-before seen baddy and that'll be it'?

Digital Spy Spoilers with the two red herrings

spoiler:
The Doctor is "processed".

Donna refers to The Doctor's daughter Jenny as "GI Jane".

Martha falls into a bog.

The Doctor puts a gun to a man's head.

There is talk of a being called 'The Great One'.

The Hath are genetic descendants of a race known as the Haemovores.

Martha puts a fish's shoulder back in place (or perhaps in plaice?).

The Doctor doesn't need a female to spawn a daughter - he is capable of doing it all on his own.

Jenny tells The Doctor that she saw someone called Susan die in the Time War, which upsets him greatly.

After putting a stethoscope to Jenny's chest, The Doctor is surprised by what he hears.

Really not sure which are the Red Herrings.

I sort of hope the
spoiler:
Susan
one is a Red Herring but I don't think it is.

At a guess I would say
spoiler:
the Hath being decended from the Haemovores (presumably the ones from The Curse of Fenric) and the Doctor being able to spawn a daughter without help
are them.

I'm personally hoping Jenny transpires to be a bonafide Timelord, or at least half a timelord. I can see how her being created by stolen DNA or whatever might be an easier approach, but it'd so much more interesting to rebuild the Time Lord race back into the mythology of the show. To see how a Time Lord has escaped the time war, and what exactly she may be doing in this episode as a rather impressive soldier sounds like it could be a lot more interesting than having her as just a simple genetic experiment.

But to be honest, I think thats all she may turn out to be; a super solider created from time lord DNA to help a bunch of military types in their battle against a bunch of fish people, lol. I hope that's not it though; humanoid fish people aren't exactly the most impressive sounding villains to merit creating a test tube time lord. If it were something along the lines of a desperate race fending off a reconstructed army of Daleks, that might be more fitting, but not fish. Oh well, maybe the fish people are just foot soldiers, lol.

Ooh lizo only gave it 3/5, which is about as negative as he gets with DW.

You're right, there isn't. But I meant that I thought Jenny would be replacing The Doctor as the resident Timelord in the "Doctor Who"series as we know it.

I've heard from a number of sources that this is the obligatory season stinker (there's always one), which is a shame...

I think the idea of the Doctor having a daughter is a bit naff and possibly a sign of plot desperation on the part of RTD. I think it makes the Doctor more human if he has an extended family and less like a mysterious alien time lord. Having said that, the 1965 Doctor Who movie 'Doctor Who and the Daleks' introduced two granddaughters, Susan and Barbara, so I guess that established the precedent.

Uh, no. The VERY FIRST EPISODE of the television series in 1963 established the precedent by having his Grandaughter in it.

Why does an alien having a "family" make them necessarily more "human"? Bit of a narrow window to view things from, imo. Besides, families are sometimes the most alien (read interesting) part of us.

Why does it seem certain the Master is returning? I've not seen any evidence, I'm not accounting for the desperate attempts of fans to find clues that aren't there.

What I feel certain of is that the female Doctor specualtion will remain just that like it has for over 30 years.

Sorry, but I can see holy hell and it's handbasket being raised if they kill off the doctor in favour of a female one, and people like me will blame sci fi USA for their demand to please "family demographics".

After all those elaborate theories it turns out
spoiler:
that on the planet the story is set the humans have been at war so long they have to keep cloning new solidiers based on their DNA in order to keep fighting. (Humans as Sontarans basically.) When the Doctor arrives some of his is taken and out pops Jenny. Pretty dull and uninspired really.

Because a source who's never been wrong before on the OG spoiler thread has said he is.

Edit: besides, you honestly think RTD would do his big everyone + the kitchen sink fanwank finale and not invite Simm? I don't.

If you look at the section

What do the scores really mean?

You will see that Lizo gives Love and Monsters a 4.

Fear Forecast is up. Guess the X's time again:

0 min
Yells and shouts and lots of running around - and that's just the kids as the episode starts! Great excitement as everyone remembers how the previous episode ended. Samuel: "The hand is bubbling!" Adam: "I wonder why he didn't just throw it out?" Mum: "Have you looked at your own room recently?"

1 min
"Oooh, that's gotta hurt," says Harry.

2 min
"Hurrah!" shouts the watching family.

3 min
"Wxxxxxs!" yells Samuel delightedly. "What are they?" wonders Amy.

4 min
"I hope they haven't killed xxxxxx," worries Adam. Samuel is chewing his fingernails. xxxxx gives "xx xxxx" a mouthful, and the family all grin.

5 min
"She's talking pidgin English," says Dad.

6 min
"What are they reaching kids in PHSE these days?" wonders Dad. "I'm not a xxxkxx, Jenny tells the Doctor. "And we haven't met your uncle," adds Adam.

8 min
Adam. "They're very affectionate," smiles Samuel. "Look, they think xxxxxx is a xxx." "They're xxxxxxx her head!" laughs Harry.

11 min
"This is serious!" whispers Harry. The Doctor unearths a whole series of xxxxxxx hidden on the xxx. "It's an Easter Egg!" laughs Adam. He shuffles a bit nearer to the screen. "What about those four down there?"

12 min
A cheer of recognition from the family. "Are the Hath good or bad?" asks Amy.

16 min
Donna presses the xxxxxxxxxxx to each of Jenny's xxxxxx. The Doctor seems lost for words. "A Txxe Lxxy!"

17 min
"He is a soldier!" Samuel says sadly, and bites his nails some more.

18 min
The cxxxkxxxk xxxxx gets a big laugh when it goes off in the Doctor's hand.

20 min
Samuel's very impressed by the view: "Three xxxxs!" Adam is too: "It's very gothic." Harry's less sure: "Hmm, not the nicest planet!"

22 min
What are Time Lords for? The Doctor says that, in his life, there's a serious amount of xxxxxxx involved. The kids grin. "That's very true!" says Harry.

24 min
xxxxx hits a xxxx and, to the kids' delight, xxxxx comes out and stops the xxxxxx.

25 min
The lasers are back on! Jenny raises her arms, takes a deep breath and shows off her impressive xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx. She xxxxx-xxxxxs through the lasers, and earns a big cheer from the whole family. "Way to go!" yells an extremely impressed Harry. "She's certainly very fit," says Dad.

26 min
Samuel points to the Hath: "Lucky he's a fish."

27 min
"Awwwww!" groan the whole family. "Amy's very sad that she's lost her xxxxxx.

28 min
"It'll be full," says Adam. "Of women!" grins Samuel.

29 min
"I've been a xxxxxx before," the Doctor admits. "Oooooh!" says Samuel. "Yes! Sxxxn!" says Harry excitedly, who's recently seen an old story on DVD.

32 min
The boys boggle with amazement. Amy can't see what the fuss is all about.

33 min
"She's dirty!" Samuel warns them."

34 min
"That reminds me of the Exxn Pxxxxxt," observes Samuel, who remembers a family holiday to... "xxxxxxxx!" laughs Adam. "That explains the General."

36 min
Amy and Harry look alarmed!

38 min
Harry slaps his forehead in exasperation.

39 min
He's angry. Very, very angry. Samuel says: "At least hit him over the head with it."

41 min
"xxxxxxx," says the Doctor. "Ooh, like last year," says Samuel.

44 min
As the credits roll, all the kids agree that this is the best story so far this series!

Gee! I hope not!

Without wanting to be controversial, the Doctor is a White British Male, always has been...

You'd never see a female James Bond or a bunch of naughty boys running about in St Trinnians would you?

no... he's always got to be a fella...

As for the Fear Factor thing, Im gonna have to work on the xxx's when I have a bit more time... Im in bleedin' work so cant have a proper read right now.

But... best episode yet according to FF Family!
