Manual Tuning of Hotbird Channels

I have a GBSat Digital Receiver that is currently pointing to the hotbird satellite at 13 degrees east (receiver is around 8 yrs old).

Picture quality of the channels is excellent. However, some of the free to air channels are missing after doing a full re-scan. I specifically want to receive TVE International Europe. I’ve had a look on the internet and it says this station is at 11785H/27500 3/4.

Could someone explain how I would manually add this channel to my GBSat digital receiver and explain what the 11785H/27500 3/4 means? A couple of website show several channels on this frequency – e.g. Canal 24 Horas, R1, TVE International Europe – so how would I select only TVE International Europe rather than any of these others?

It would help immensely if someone can find a website that lets you download above info, e.g. as an excel file – the eutelsat website is in this format, but as per above shows multiple channels on one frequency: e.g 11785H/27500

Anyone’s help would be gratefully appreciated.

I don't know about your specific receiver I'm afraid.

11785H/27500 3/4 refers to the 'tuning' parameters for the transponder carrying that channel.

11785MHz, horizontally polarised

symbol rate 27500 (this refers to the rate data is transmitted at)

FEC 3/4 (forward error correction)

To scan in the channel you may also need the VPID (3521 in this case) and APID (3522). This helps the receiver pick out the data streams for the channel you're after.

Websites such as kingofsat are useful for looking up the details of a particular channel.

.
You need to find something like 'manual scan' or 'advanced scan'
Those parameters will come up and you put in the figures.

When you initiate the scan, all those channels will come up. You may be able to decide then which ones to save and which ones to delete. If not you save them all and then you go back and delete the ones you don't want. The channels will probably be found at the end of your EPG. You can then move the channel to the position you want.

11785H is a relatively recent addition to the Hotbird frequencies - if your receiver is a few years old is probably got 11785 missing from its database

thanks for your replies everyone.

Have done a bit of investigation and found you have to go into the receiver setup and select 'scan transponder' and enter SID, VPID and audio figures as well as 11785H 27500 3/4.

You are right - this clearly is not in the receivers default frequency search.

Does anyone know if it is possible to update the software for my GBSat Receiver to enable this and other frequencies to be searched by default when doing a full system scan?

I will need to find out the model of my receiver as well.
