Fable 2

Just been reading on the xbox forums that game and gamestation will be the only online stores doing the free pub games that could be released as soon as 13th august

"Pre-order a copy of Fable II or Fable II Limited Collector's Edition (at participating retailers*) and earn or gamble away in-game gold via Xbox LIVE Arcade Fable II Pub Games (Keystone, Spinnerbox" and Fortune's Tower) in preparation for the game's full retail launch later this year."

*USA - GameStop, BBY, Circuit, Game Crazy, Amazon
UK - Game and GameStation
Mexico - Blockbuster and Gameplanet planned
Aus/NZ - EB Games, Game, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, All Interactive, Dicky Smith
Canada - EB Games and Toys R Us
Netherlands - Bart Smit, 12Game, Xboxhome, Bol
France - Micromania
Germany - MediaMarkt, Saturn
Switzerland - World of Games, GameStop

I wonder if game will change there status on charging for pre order games, since there is nothing to stop you getting the pub games code and then canceling your pre order, since they dont charge you until the actual game has been dispatched. I think they are charging 800mp for the pub games if you want to buy them of the arcade.

I wonder if after 6 weeks, that game and ms will take back the pub games just like they did with my gta points, yes i am still moaning about it.

I have my pre order in with game, used the £5 off code and £5 worth off points, so getting the game for £30. This is the only game that i have on pre order and am looking forward too this year.

Hopefully game will be dishing out the pub codes next week as well but i noticed that they still are not advertising it yet.

There still doesnt seem to be any word on the pub games yet, and they are out this wednesday. On a better note i have come accross the achievements list and it seems like fun. The one i am looking forward to is the swingers - have a responsible orgy.

I got an email from game today but it was only to confirm the release date forthe full game

Just had a quick scan on the lionshead webpage and they have put up a new message saying the following

"We're being overwhelmed by messages from people waiting to receive their pre-order reward. There appears to be some confusion over the participating retailers list we posted on our site, so we're taking it down for the time being. We are very sorry for this as we posted it in faith. We are trying to resolve this confusion as soon as possible. We hope to publish an update as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience".

Apparently gamestation wont be doing the pre order pub games now. Fourzero, i am pretty sure that when game get the codes they will phone you or you phone them and you will get them that way.

Yep for 800 points, but i'd rather not have to pay for them if i could get a free code with a pre order.

Woo hoo, just got my pre order codes today for the pub games from game but after playing the trial version i am not really that bothered. I wasnt expecting it because i thought that it might only have been with the collectors edition, so an added bonus for me anyway.

Yeah but how is that an advantage in the main game?

Im sure you'll be able to play the game fine with no gold.

The one button combat works pretty well but does make it quite a button masher.

you will be able to play the game with small amounts of gold however buying food houses buying gifts for npcs is all going to take gold but you not get gold for questing this time round only for doing jobs for npcs or gambling maybe for less leagle things as well robbery murder etc you could end up the game poor and lonley

Advice

OK,

I've had this game recommended to me now by 2 people, and rather than start another thread about Fable 2 I thought I'd ask in this one.

Can anyone do a "Fable 2 for Dummies" synopsis to tell me what it's all about. Or even Fable 1, or really what it's theme is?

I'd rather go on other peoples words than a new story as they can make any game look good....if that makes sense?

Anyone kind enough?

Basicially,

Game Type, Story Mode, Any online Features, release date, what these "pub games" are all about?

Many thanks if you answer.

I was just about to buy a code for Pub Games off ebay, but then I saw that the seller was charging- and get this- 15p "to cover electricity i use when e-mailing the code and to pay for the listing of this item on ebay"

I don't care about the amount- it's just on the sheer principle of the matter that I refrained from buying anything from this cheapskate!

Fable 1 & 2 are both action RPGs, by Peter Molyneux' Lionhead Studios. Lionhead previously did Black & White 1 and 2. Before Lionhead, PM used to be at Bullfrog, which did Populous, Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper, Syndicate, etc. (basically, a whole tonne of Amiga classics & more).

Big main story quests, side quests, etc. etc.

Good choices & evil choices, which affect your character, how people perceive you, the story, etc.

No online with the 1st, but no.2 will have online co-op.

Fable 2 is due out at the end of October.

The "pub games" let you earn in-game money in advance of getting the actual game itself. Something like that.

I loved the first Fable

It's currently available for download as an "Xbox Original".

Buy it, then pre-order no.2
