John Barrowman = sick man!

What a presumptious person, to suggest a whole gender feels a certain way about monogamy and say they view relationships differently is bizarre.

I also take offense how he pigeon holes women.

Why does he have to support the notion that all gay men are sluts. I know heaps of gay men that are fine in monogamous relationships.

Because most gay men are slags!

I don't really like John Barrowman, but all the gay people I know are not in relationships. And the ones who are, are frequently cheating on partners. Theres no point calling him a fool when he is just speaking the truth.

That said, I do know a few people are in monogamous relationships with another man.

Oh, and by the way- I am a gay, and not a slag.

No fan of John's but he's not really saying anything other than what a lot of gay men feel about the gay community.

I'm gay, I've been a slag. I've also been cheated on in relationships. i don't hold with making sweeping generalisations about people, but to a degree I can't really take issue with his comments.

What about gay men in the public eye who are in long term relationships?

Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan?
Elton and David Furnish?
Before his death Nigel Hawthorne had been with his partner for over 20 years.

Barrowman does gay men no favours with the tripe he spouts, he makes them look bad to certain sections of the straight community, so he needs to put a sock in it.

I'm afraid Digital Spy has done its usual thing of taking a good article out of context. JB doesn't say in the original article that it's 'ok for men to cheat.' Not at all.

Here's an actual direct quote from the article: 'I think it's OK to be in a relationship and still look. It doesn't mean you are going to do anything.'

The actual article is really interesting and is part of a series where they interview people about men (mostly women, but some gay men).

He is not sick and I think he can say what he likes about gay men and sex but he shouldn't start talking about women. I have always found him a tad misogynistic not because he hates women but because he is so self obsessed that he cannot imagine what it is like to be a woman.

A link to the article would be useful.

No need to take anything The Barrowman says remotely seriously anyway. We're well aware of his attitude to sex and relationships - not that he talks about it very often, of course.

In the actual article he doesn't lecture women, he just gives his point of view as a gay man. It's actually a fun interview!

I like the fact he still slept around after meeting his partner, despite knowing he was 'the One'.

Nice guy.

I don't know any gay men in a monogamous relationship. They are all sluts in my town. All cheating on their partners even the civil partnered ones.

Then there are the bisexuals who cheat on their wives and girlfriends. I see plenty of them about.

I know John Barrowman speaks very truthfully about the sexual habits of gay men. Least he accurately describes the guys in my town.

I don't think that having a civil partnership and monogamy have anything to do with one another. I agree with him that sex is probably more external for most men that it is for most women however I do find his comments about women slightly annoying- like the only reason women have sex is to keep there man happy and not for their own reasons. It just comes across as he thinks that women are are bit inferior.

I hate that, a typical male thinking he knows best and that men are the superior sex.

If you wanted to have random sex with strangers, then why would you want to get a civil partnership? The whole point of them is proving your love and wanting to spend the rest of your life with them. So that usually means being in a monogamous relationship unless both parties agree on it being an open relationship.

So far John has just made himself out to be a cheating slut.

I bet I could apply it to most places if I knew the people well enough.

I disagree with you actually I think civil partnership is just a legal recognition of partnership it doesn't assume anything about your sex life.

For some it would be the pratcical, however, I'm sure a lot of people would view it as more than that and have some sort of emotional involvement in it.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense either Helli, then you would get the majority of people that marry just for legal reasons and added benefits.

You must know some really lousy gays then.

I have lost all respect for Barrowman and his 'civil partnership' or whatever it is, its idiots like him that give gays a bad name. It is NOT ok to cheat and I hope people are aware that he DOES NOT speak for most gays. Honestly its no wonder people dont respect gay relationships with jerks like him talking trash.

A lot of gays do have open relationships and that crap, but many many more do not, and I for one have no respect for slutty gays who have no morals.

Barrowman says his partner is 'the one' but then admits to cheating on him, so he is contradicting himself. A lot of gays have no morals and Barrowman only speaks for those people, the rest are thankfully nothing at all like him.

I was never really convinced he was gay. I just assumed he was because it was considered fashionable in London.

The whole thing about John and cheating has totally blown out of proportion in my opinion, the cheating that John did was BEFORE he met his partner and knew he was the one, OK!!!!! I love John Barrowman and I respect everything he says no matter what other people think of him and his opinions.
