You don't know how funny that is, aiko. Strangely enough my boots (I haven't counted them, and I'm not going to) are all standing upright in wardrobes, mostly with those folded cardboard thingies in them to keep them upright.

The new ones are a lovely colour and I bought them because they match a (get this) nifty shoulder bag in exactly the same colour which I have never used because I didn't have any matching footwear.

I can't find when Anthea is on either, snowy, but I did chance on her recently when she was taking two wide-eyed sitting ducks to task for the state of (I think) their cupboards. It might have been a trailer. It all struck me as a bit obsessive compulsive, and not at all what I need at the moment, when I'm trying to conserve the world's energy supplies by not indulging in vacuum cleaning - which reminds me it's time I defrosted the freezer - it's all timing don't you find? However if you keep on talking about her I'll have to make a point of watching her, which will do me no good at all.

Should I confess that I have certain outfits collected together in zipped plastic covers?............or will that make me seem strange?

PS Rolled newspaper? You mean that dirty, inky stuff - wouldn't put that anywhere near the inside of my boots. Maybe she's not perfect after all.

Well, I'm up. And I'm not getting into any domestic goddess conversations. We're off to the seaside.

Big hugs to (((me@))) (((R_P))) and (((JG))) <-- where are youuuuu?

Oh, and Beth - let's have some news of the bump soon.

No!

I don't want to get distracted from finding my bucket and spade, that's all.

... see, I knew I could rely on you to find the fatal flaw in all that pink perfection and ritualised cleaning rites.

(We'll draw a discreet veil over the rest of your ... um ... revelations, but the bag bit did make me chuckle. )

Batgirl are you sure that after the rigors of enforced repetative bowling and eating you are ready for scampering around swinging your bucket and spade at the seaside ... you are a mum of sterling qualities.

Greetings fellow grumpettes.

I'm still on a bit of a high from yesterday's revelations, despite the best efforts of work.

Mal, it's taken me such a long time to make myself do this - my mum's such a worrier and I know I take after her. I'm always too quick to see the negative in a situation, but slowly I'm getting better.

And it's the weekend! Hurrah.

Have fun at the seaside batgirl!

((((GOW near and far))))

Its not easy - but I think that once you realise something/see something you are half way there anyway. The answers are no good to those without questions!

I've been out in the garden today! Bagging up a lot of winter waste. Pleased to see snowdrops flowering and buds breaking on the roses.

On a bad note, LittleMal has just totally wet his pants (YET AGAIN) to the point of LEAVING A PUDDLE ON THE FLOOR I despair sometimes.

((((mal))))) Don't let it bug you (the wet pants thing) - my son is 13 and is only just beginning to show signs of being dry at night. We have been through phases where he has lulled me into a false sense of security but by and large he's always had continence probs - it's genetic, partly, as dad was still wetting the bed at 15. I'm guessing LittleMal's dad won't answer the inevitable question even if you wanted to ask it
I find it's worst when he's totally absorbed in something e.g. tv prog or computer game, and realises "too late". We've tried the usual things like making him go to the loo even when he says he doesn't want to but we're not always successful.
You've got years before you need to start worrying about it - isn't LittleMal only 3 and a 1/2? - be grateful he's not a puppy - he'd be chewing the carpet as well

Hi everyone,

Sorry I've not been posting much, been a bit down with a cold and sinus related headaches, on the up now though.

I've ben lurking and I'm pleased to hear the surgery went well R_P. I'm still thinking often about me@h.

Bump is growing nicely, I'll try to get a piccie soon. I'm getting some nice strong kicks now and I was able to get a recording of Tiger's heartbeat for the parents on valentines day. In a few weeks we'll know if it's a girlie bump or a boy bump.

Mal, i know how frustrating the wetting is but hang on in there, he'll get the hang of it eventually.

I've not watched the housewife programme, it'd only depress me.

I'm off for the weekend first thing tomorrow, I'm staying with Tiger's parents, I've been told to expect to be waited on hand and foot - not used to that.

Hi grumpettes. I'd planned to spend some of the weekend building me shiny new PC after giving the current 4 year old one some TLC but one of the bits I bought is broken. No big deal, it's being replaced, but I'd just looked forward to some "pottering about" and it's been one thing after another. The saga is in the Computer forum FWIW. Us boys must have our toys, so we can cope with (hide from) real life.

aiko: That's an interesting image you've painted. My knee trembled a bit. Oo-er.

*waves* to me@h and R_P. With luck both of them are off their heads.

... well as long as the image didn't involve me holding a freshly ironed duster at any stage.

(Edit: Have been for a read of thread. Followed it ... but couldn't do it, am impressed. Being curious, have you built it for anything specific apart from the mundane usual?)

Good to hear all is well Beth.

Question : Why is Daniel O'Donnell so popular?

I want to have a go at programming the nVIDIA GPU vertex and pixel shaders, I'm really into podcasts, I want to do some automatic code writing stuff, and I like to offload my hard disk video recorder to the PC, which eats disk space, I want to have Google Earth (without installing Windows) 'cos its just fun looking at places, and I have some ideas about 3D TV ...

... you know, stuff.

Of course, I'm also trying to play saxophone (not while my fingers are messed up), but sadly, my evenings tend to end up being a quick beer and hanging out on DS. Which is how I met the GOWs, so it's no bad thing.

Hello.

I'm a bit depressed over my money. I'm a little more overdrawn than I thought I was and it isn't nice to look at my balance

If I've worked it out right though and manage to live off £20-£25 a week I *should* be OK come Easter.

Sometimes I hate being a student

It's a dreaded task in our house too (ours was just a huge square of mud when we moved in) but there's nothing more satisfying than sitting back and admiring your own handiwork. We still have quite a bit to do but it's looking better every year.

I do feel sorry for students these days, Examinus. The only way to look at it is that when you've got a high flying job and the cash is rolling in, you'll really appreciate what you've got.

KJ, you can have the chilli choc. I've tried them and I haven't a sophisticated enough palate - as for the rest - what language is this you're talking?

I'm going to have to miss the beginning of Judge John tonight in favour of the ice-dance. Bye for now.

Hi, T--J - yes, you are being watched - now give that fiver to Examinus. He needs it more than you.

Heeeeeellllllllooooooo!

Guess who's half-term just started?

And I've just won a boxed set of Star Trek Enterprise on e-bay for 80 quid, as opposed to £250+ on Amazon and Play.com. Colour me cheerful!

Examinus, I remember that feeling so well!! Poor you! (((hug))) Lots of vegetarian food is the answer. You can live well off a bag of spuds, half a dozen eggs, a few onions and some mature cheddar, if you put your mind to it!

Beth - nice to hear all is well. Gagging for those piccies!

KJ - I'm impressed, but to me it all looks like this -----> ΔθβΣΩ

Snowy - keep looking after yourself

Everyone else - Hiiiiiiiii

I'm back! Phew... What an afternoon - we ended up in a Sea Life Centre and watched penguins (love 'em) and seals (love 'em lots) getting their food... and the most amazing jellyfish floating around in darkened rooms where eerie music was playing and... I got to hold a crab ( ) ... and we saw some Japanese Spider Crabs the size of a dog... and we had waffles and spent a fortune in the arcades.

Examinus - pants. The lack of money is the worst thing about being a student. The only thing to do is to get a part-time job. I had a few interesting ones when I was young and foolish - I'll tell you about them when I know you better/you post some more pictures of yourself.

Beth - glad the bump is fine. I'd love to see some piccies.

TJ - I'll forward you a photo of our garden and you can tell me what to do with it... Is that a good idea? Otherwise we're a bit lost... in the jungle...

... Is there a picture theme developing here... ?
