I know it comes down to personal taste and likes and dislikes but anyone really enjoy Julie Peasgood on Steve's Sunday show? She sounds so precious.

She's a luvvie, darling. Probably a perfectly nice person but not very interesting. Steve probably likes her because she giggles at everything he says.

Morning all.

Julies not great as a guest but it was more interesting than the lazy first hour that had ticket sales and the weather as the main topics. Unless John Warringtons on I usually doze back off.

Did you hear him on 18 November 2007?

Oscar: "And I tell you what. I blame the women!"

Anthony: "Really?"

Oscar: "I blame the women. It is the women that are to blame for this horrible, terrible moral degeneration that you have just given us some statistics to prove that it absolutely true and a definite fact."

Oscar: "Well I tell you. The women have changed from being ladies into being a load of degenerate, draw-dropping, promiscuous, slappers!"

Now I see why the phones were red hot!

He was on the phone with H for ages, answering angry calls all night. I'm guessing last night was similar.

She's my least favorite of Steve's regulars, does she ever
stop going on about herself?

Hi Richie. I don't think Steve Hargrave would be organised enough to think of telling me. I get the impression that he isn't the most organised person in the world. lol He hasn't even found time to go onto his MysPace page since mid June.

I heard your email on Steve's show this morning. Thankyou for pointing it out as I didn't have LBC on last night! I did email in to Steve A just after your email to ask him to thank you and also asked if Steve H had been on Christos show. He didn't read it out though.... it probably got lost among the other 100's of emails that he gets!

So I see here that Jo was in for Christo then. I'll have to get podcasting!

I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking that Gurney
That's it...she's a luvvie, doesn't really offend but after she's been on, you think, the last hour was a waste of time

Yes, what was that all about? I wasn't paying attention much when that was happening otherwise I probably would've thought it was 15 minutes of poor radio. John is probably my favourite of Steve's regular's and I have to include Alan too.

Perhaps that's just a bit of wishful thinking on his part.

Just like last time when she plugged various restaurants in Twickenham, within the first 10 minutes Julie Peasgood had plugged at great length the (expensive) diet food-delivery service she is going on to and even made sure it was repeated several times later in the show. Then she plugged the return of the Alan Titchmarsh show and her own forthcoming appearance on it..... was wondering if perhaps the newspapers hadn't been delivered for her to review! But no, clearly the producers also eventually twigged she was just advertising friends and her TV appearances and asked in Steve's ear if there was anyhting in the papers of interest....

Same thing with Jane Mulkerrins on Andrew Pierce - she plugged her own newspaper a lot and then talked about the articles that come up by her when people Google her, having already started her appearance by complainiing about what Steve Allen said about her. So exactly whose show was this? Self-promotion all the way - what happened to newspaper reviewing?

I always enjoy Simon when I remember that he is on. Once you get past the stilted delivery, he's alright.

Just heard Bill Buckley talking about our nearest vineyard, Denbies in Dorking, with his wine expert guest. He didn't splutter, spit and swear when sampling their wine quite as much as Richie and I did when we paid a visit back in June. Perhaps he was being polite.

I can accept the charity work being allowed some air time but agree with all you say, it was the mention of that diet food service that actually made me bother to post my comment in the first place, if she thinks she needs to diet(having seen her over the years)and use what will be a service for those with plenty of money to waste(seriously can she not manage to eat less, or foods that common sense tells you will help control weight and your health)or exercise there is something wrong.

Its another of those services that would've featured on Jim Davis' lunchtime programme some months ago that often used to annoy.

If you eat plenty of fruit, vegetables and protein like fish, chicken and turkey in general, such services are really only for the rich and famous or those with more money than most of us...it's not rocket sceience and for someone that seems to be used on tv and radio shows as a kind of expert on lifestyle, you'd think you'd know this.

Just had a quick look at the service she mentioned...and picked a plan at random...two hampers of food per week for one person comes in at a total of £110

Think I'll pass...

I heard about 10 minutes of the show last week and I heard him read out an email asking him if it was OK to fly to San Diego with Zoom! Simon said it was a good airline!

Having said that, I usually find him interesting on the TV and he's always mentioning my adopted home town.

If you watched the programme yesterday, one of the contestants was Martha Kearney. She was one of the very early presenters on LBC.

But realistically, how much should he know about any given airline at any particular time? Chances are, like us, he is not checking anyone's credit rating/balance sheet on a day to day basis. It is likely that nobody got a whiff of Zoom's demise until the writing was well and truly on the wall. That is generally the nature of business. Even if he did have his personal doubts about them, how much could he say on a radio show?

On Friday J O'B read an e-mail or took a call (can't remember which), from somebody that got an e-mail from Zoom (on the morning after it went into liquidation) inviting him to complete a survey, for a reward of a free flight !

If you read airline review sites, there have been a lot of discussion about whether it would survive over the last few months, given failures with other airlines. I've been particularly interested given I've been a big fan of them over the last few years. I've flown with them to Vancouver, Toronto and New York and was going to fly with them to Florida next month. I've had to rebook with Virgin Atlantic (using Heathrow instead of my preferred Gatwick) and hope that I get my money back.

One of the tell tale signs was that they kept changing timetables at little or no notice, to minimise the number of flights they would operate by making additional stops. They changed my reservation by adding an additional stop in Bermuda, for example. The biggest worry for me was when Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance was no longer available for Zoom (I'm surprised Calder didn't know about that) so I was hoping they would survive until next month but it wasn't to be.

So Simon would have had access then to as much information as you, Rad. One would assume from this, that if he had been up to speed, he could have forewarned the listeners last week without getting into any kind of legal wrangle or guano?
