With 10 pages and over 200 posts you'd think the official season 5 thread would be

Except that one's full of spoilers, which many of us are avoiding like the plague! Of course, that doesn't give us too much to discuss in here until January 25th except to say how excited we are!

The biggest news in the Lost universe right now is that the ARG has been abruptly cancelled, to be replaced by regular behind-the-scenes exclusive content leading up to the season 5 premiere.

I'm perplexed.... how can there be spoilers? The shows haven't aired anywhere in the world! So unless the cast and crew have been talking surely these are guesses at best?

I think you've misunderstood the concept of spoilers. Most of the time they are not just about what has been shown in later episodes elsewhere in the world (although they do include that).

Most of the 'spoilers' related to a show like Lost are details of casting decisions, locations, sets, script leaks and the like. Because the shows get filmed a few weeks (or longer in many cases) before they are aired it is inevitable that some information makes it into the public domain.

It's even worse for UK shows as they almost always get filmed in full before the first episode is screened so it's quite common for entire episodes to have plot synopses published before they air (see the Dr Who forum for some perfect examples).

Shows like Lost have been known to deliberately leak 'foilers' which appear to give away plot lines but are actually complete fabrication. They do this in an attempt to retain some of the mystery. Occasionally they even film alternate endings as a way of throwing people off the scent but not often as that is very expensive.

Even at the earliest stages, casting can give quite a lot away. Considering how S4 ended, news about which characters are returning and which aren't would be pretty big spoilers. Jin, Desmond and Daniel, specifically.

*joins the spoiler-free party*

Well, almost spoiler-free ... I did watch The Fray's S5 promo video thingy, but that's all. I'm looking forward to being shocked by the show again - I watched seasons 3 and 4 long after 4 finished, so a lot of the big shocks had been spoiled for me.

I've read the spoilers but you can't talk in that thread about the nuances of the show since people know some of what is going on.

Although that being siad I don't remember any of them.

I can't wait - especially in terms of how they're going to find the island again.

It's been hell waiting what? 8 months? Avoiding spoilers. I'm a HUUUGE Lost fan. Good to see a spoiler free thread. It's hard to keep out of the lost ABC pace thread.
I've not read anything about it since the Season 4 finale.
BRING ON THE 25TH!

There are some behind the scene pictures of episodes that have been filmed or are in the middle of being filmed. Some of these pictures can reveal things that would be classed as a spoiler.

Anyone know if Sky 1 will show a few of the last episodes of season four as i have forgot most of what happened since the gap between series has been so long?
I might have to look on lostpedia to catch back up with like the season finale of season four.

It's still quite nice to have a Sky One pace thread though.

During Janurary they'll be showing season 4 at 2pm on weekdays, and on the 25th itself the last few episodes of season 4 will be on during the afternoon.
