Good grief, I see channel 4 is still committed to quality broadcasting instead of sensationalism purely for the sake of it.
What a bunch of weasels.

I won't be watching, that's for sure.

But since he is the president of a powerful Middle East country and could have a major effect on the region and possibly the world, I feel that it is right that we should hear his views (even if we don't agree with them).

After all, do you only want to hear messages from our 'allies' like George W Bush?

I will be curious to hear what he has to say and will watch it.
He will not be in power for ever and relations with Iran will improve at some point in the future.

I did hear Jesus was mentioned in his speech. I suppose we have got to hear views off others around the world. Too many do gooders in this country.

Let me rephrase that then just in case you got a little lost (due to the effects of partying or alcohol ..... )

The thread is directly concerning the Christmas Message broadcast in the UK to the UK on Channel 4, running alongside the Queen's Christmas Message.

We were not talking about Christmas Messages issued or broadcast in other countries (such as the one from The Pope)

So, to my knowledge, and in the context of this thread, George Bush has never made a Christmas Message specifically to the UK, neither has he done one on Channel 4.

And for that matter, neither has any other US President, or any other Head of State from another country.

It's been moved to 7:15pm this year so doesn't run alongside the Queen. As for Bush I'm sure Channel 4 would of run a message from him but whether he would of agreed to it is a different matter.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (however distasteful we may find the fact) is an important world leader and broadcasting his comments is completely valid. As adults we should be allowed to listen to what he says and draw our own conclusions. Although in the current climate people will look for any excuse to express faux-outrage and complain.

can't say I'm a big fun of any Christmas messages and won't be tuning in for any this Christmas but I can see why C4 might want to broadcast this - although I do think they should provide some context - otherwise it's just propaganda. they'd probably say it's assumed but it certainly shouldn't be.

LOL yet they run like chickens from still giving a live Feed for Celeb BB.
even the sun reports this was the only reason the live feed was cut they are scared of yet another scandal.
This Reeks of C4 still acting like a Rabid Dog only to find out its wearing false Teeth.

Boring. They're trying to create a scandal. Channel Four is becoming the 'fail' channel of late.

I think its going to be interesting and i don't thinks its a national embarrassment because it makes change to hear from someone different. I support what channel 4 are doing and will be tuning in at 7.15pm.

I might record this, because it's BBC One all the way today. I have friends in Iran, and they keep inviting me over. They seem to have a cool time. Almost every weekend, they go out into the desert, (if that's what it is), in their 4x4s and they have barbies and seem to have a great time. When I speak to them about politics, they say "***k the politicians, we are all people and we are all friends". So I will check it out.

Anyway, would he know where the UK was, or what Channel 4 does?

In the modern world it's important to take notice of all opinions of a subject, whether you agree with them or not. He is one of the most important leaders in the world at the moment and going out of your way to ignore him is akin to a schoolchild putting their fingers in their ears and singing "I'm not listening".

this year would have been ideal, but next year could work, as long as he sends himself up a bit, I think it could be worth watching.

My sentiments exactly. If it was under other circumstances I would be fascinated to listen to the man speak, but I'm not giving in to C4's pathetically desperate and childish cry for attention.

Channel 4 is shooting itself in the foot with this one, angering politicians at a time when the C4 Corp is trying to persuade politicians to allow it to leech off the BBC.
