Masterchef 2009

The series returns Monday 5th January on BBC2 at 8.30.

Nothing gets tougher than this for Gregg Wallace and John Torode.

Here we go.

Contestants: Andrew (26) stationary salesman, John (33) accountant, Ruth (30) publications officer, Sonja (29) housewife, Ashley (30) dental technician, Elisa (32) full-time mum.

Ingredients: chicken, bacon, lentils, lemon, potatoes, rhubarb, goat’s cheese and tarragon.

Ashley: oven roasted chicken stuffed with cheese and bacon – not amalgamated as one dish.
Ruth: lemon chicken ravioli – pasta could be lighter and it needs a broth.
Andrew: pan-fried chicken with bacon and lentils – crispy chicken skin, tastes better than it looks.
Elisa: pan-fried chicken and tarragon sauce – chicken well cooked, pretty good.
John: rhubarb tart – a bit scruffy but a pretty good tart, not bad.
Sonja: chicken kiev with chips and white wine sauce – tasty, not bad, Greg would lick the plate clean.

Decision time.

John showed a lot of skill, Andrew’s chicken was excellent. Both are staying

Ashley chicken with flabby skin, Ruth’s pasta was dry both are going.

Elisa did a lovely sauce, Sonja chicken and chips which one stays. Elisa stays.

Yeh great to see this is back with Gregg and John together.

The Michel Roux guy ruined the last series for me!
He had no personality and looked oh so bored and wierd...

Yup, looks burnt to me too.

So much for "Cook it so it's still soft and cooked perfectly"

After failing to plate up a single dish in two hours he has to be out even with a crumble.

Torode will want the Lebonese Lady, Barrow Boy will want Andrew (if only for the faux drama)
