can't comment on the brightness of itv as i am watching on setanta, but that silly air-cam is so poorly operated.

They lost the feed for a good few seconds earlier on and there's been a slight stutter in the feed too - like when an MPEG-2 stream is lost and the decoder's playing catch up. It looks like it's a cable feed too judging by how the feed was lost so heaven knows what happened

Clearly the string linking it to the new hq of ITVs in a lock up garage is not optimal for the feed Not noticed any freezing on the intl feed on nova sport

If Sky and the BBC can show football with no Problems then why cant itv?

is it because itv are showing this in HD as well??

No it's because ITV wouldn't know good picture quality if it hit them over the head with a wet fish.....

The picture quality on the HD version (Freesat) is fine, so the underlying picture ITV have is good. Flicking between that and the SD version always makes the SD version seem bad, but it does look somewhat worse than usual.

I logged on to see if this was being discussed because I have been getting stuttering and flashing and the occasional lost frame during the 1st half. I was thinking it might have been my setup but clearly not. I have switched between analogue and digital with no difference.

Yep getting the stutter etc on freeview here too. I thought the sloppiest bit though was the interaction between the commentator and the director as the players came off at half time. Usually, as the commentator mentions a player, the director chooses the shot of that player coming off the field but he was late two times out of three...

Shocking!

Glad to see this thread. I'd already rebooted my Sky (HD) box thinking it was that playing tricks - mainly because of the flicker.

Absolute joke.

They also have the nerve to remind us about the HD channel available on Freesat (which I don't have). Try broadcasting a proper SD picture before attempting HD ITV ...

It's shocking. Almost unwatchable - good old fashioned analogue TV was /way/ better than this. I've watched live streaming on the Internet that's far greater quality than this.

Embarrassing - it's nearly as bad as the picture quality from Spanish football :-)

Cheers,

Stuart.

I thought I'd check whether there was a problem as there was regular glitching on the broadcast. Also, the picture looks very soft, even compared to other SD channels.

You come to expect the soft picture from ITV but not glitching as well!

Still glitching, picture stuttering and missing frames during half-time ... come on ITV at least apologise that you've b*ggerred it up so we don't all fiddle with our setups...

Useless.

Just flicked between 5 seconds on ITV and the same period on Setanta. The picture and sound qualities are so much better on the latter its quite weird.

Having said that, the sound has been poor since half-time, with regular cut-outs on their HD channel

The ITV1 picture on my V+ is OK - exactly the same as the Setanta Sports 2 picture. I gather ITV1 on satellite is broadcast at a much lower quality, which must be annoying.

Freeview / Digital TV is rubbish. I will be annoyed when they turn off my lovely non blocky analogue picture with the vastly superior NICAM Stereo sound and have to suffer the pixellation of freeview.

Perhaps it's because I'm used to watching in HD on Sky Sports, but yeah, not good at all.

I'd say it's like watching on YouTube, but YouTube have upped their quality recently...

I'd be quite offended if I was youtube as at least they offer HD to everyone

Everyone who has had enough of the unacceptable picture quality of ITV please email dutyoffice@itv.com and tell them.

I think we should get as many people as possible to email them and let them know how we all feel.

Football on ITV is totally unwatchable now due to the poor bit rate, as someone has already pointed out it looks worse that youtube.

Many of last nights FA Cup highlights looked like it had been filmed by a mobile phone.

Well I have already done that....again. I reallly think ITV do not understand that the only tv's you can buy now (in reality) are LCD's and Plasma's which really show which channels are broadcast at a low bitrate. I think they need a complete makeover!... a new ITV show perhaps!
