On the plus side, that makes it more likely that the final three are a linked story.

Erm - that can't be right? The next season starts in 2010 and I would've thought it would have it's usual spot of springish for that.
So, unless they plan on having all the remaining specials over the Xmas period (Xmas Day, New Years Day) I would've thought they'd be doing the specials for 'Bank Holiday' weekends - Easter, Spring (end of May), August and then Christmas. Ok, so Spring is probably pushing it - but if they started filming the easter one in January, and it'll be ready by April, then if they've already started filming the next one, then it'll be ready in plenty of time for August. |

Oh great
![]() Nothing for months and months, and then all three come along at once. I am assuming here that the other three specials will be shown before series 5 So that’s Christmas, New Year, and then Easter? |

To be honest, although I'm going to seriously suffer from the lack of Who, I'm glad they aren't going to be rushing the regenerations story (I'm assuming they're all linked!) because a proper story can be developed over 3 episodes rather than just one or two hours.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
That is the best I can come up with really. It had better be one hell of a story at Easter to tide us over a further 8 months. |

I can make Christmas come quicker!!
![]() y'see, working in Sainsers (as I do ) I can track the progress of a year by the product ranges and what is selling when ![]() as an example........like most stores, Sains is building up to Mother's Day with lots of gifts, cards and flower arrangements. As soon as Mother's Day is over, it's all hands on deck for the Easter weekend (AND THE DR WHO SPESH!!! ![]() ) in mid April.......once the Easter Eggs have been cleared off of the shelves, the BBQ 'lines' will be coming in, along with all the summer ranges.....this will be in store until the last week of August, when all the Back to School stuff comes in, which will last until Mid September......... ......at which point the Christmas stuff starts to come in (yes, really ).........by the end of September, all the bits for Hallowe'en appears (and it gets bigger every year - America ) .......followed by fireworks for Bonfire Night and Diwali in November......and then we get Advent calendars...............and then all the Christmas product ranges start to appear in mid November.......and then at the start of December, all the Chrissy stuff really FLOODS in, decs, wrapping paper etc...... and by the second week of December, fresh turkeys, geese etc......and then in a flash, IT'S THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!! and then it will be CHRISTMAS DAY AND THE DR WHO CHRISSY SPESH!! ![]() ![]() and that's how my year goes, every year.......and Christmas seems to come around quicker and quicker. |

This made me wonder what on earth had happened to the other 3 specials, but hadn't considered the obvious that there could be a multi part special at the end of the year.
I'm very much in approval... if you can *be* in approval. Sorry, I deleted that and rewrote it and I'm not sure if it makes sense, basically I'd enjoy a run of specials over xmas... *gasps for air* |

Maybe it's a red herring.
The BBC will whip out the second special, with very little notice, and gazump ITV. Who knows! An eight month wait though.... aaaargh! |

I'm guessing that the first two will be over christmas and new years and the other at easter or that 1 will air at christmas and two at new years.
I doubt it's a 3 parter since the ood are in special 2 but the gate are in specials 3 and 4. Whilst I'd rather one of them air in the summer, Torchwood and a complete rewatch of series 1-4 will probably keep me busy till then. |

I don't see why that presents a problem. It can be like the three concluding episodes of series 4, where 11 set up 12 without quite being the first part of the story.

Bet David Tennant gets three big Christmas specials then. Or something. There's no way the Beeb will send him off with a paltry two specials then done.
Looking forward to the Moffat/Smith reign though.

Thats fine with me. I would much rather wait until Christmas and then get what appears will be a 3 parter for the regeneration story.
Face it, it's already March. Christmas will be here before we know it.
