A man started the queue for the iPad 2 at the Apple store on Regent Street 33 hours before the device was released in the UK.

Jewels Lewis, who was fourth in line last year when the first iPad was launched, arrived outside at 7.30am on Thursday morning, and admitted before he got his hands on the new tablet computer that he was most looking forward to experiencing the improved speed.

He also told DS that he didn't expect the iPad 2 to disappoint, joking: "[It will] never happen - I've trained my mind using Jedi tricks."

It was reported by Metro that the father-of-two had missed his 12-year-old son's birthday to ensure he would be the first person in the queue. However, Lewis responded: "I would never miss it completely. I saw him in the morning before he went to school.

"[My family] don't mind. It's only once a year this happens."

Though Lewis wasn't prepared to give up his spot unless he was offered "thousands and thousands of pounds", the man fifth in line would have left for £400 ($641).

The iPad 2, said to be 33% thinner and up to nine times faster, went on sale at 5pm in the UK today, while the US has already had the device for two weeks.
