A Back to the Future superfan has created his own time-travel fitted DeLorean.

Brian O'Neill spent £20,000 ($32,058) on buying parts for his vehicle and likes to drive around Bognor Regis as the classic film's Doc Brown, originally played by Christopher Lloyd.

The 58-year-old explained that people are often surprised to see the iconic car driving around the seaside town.

"I love the car and everybody else seems to as well," O'Neill told Metro. "People are enthusiastic about it and that is what I like and love about it.

"It is such a fun car and I get a lot of enjoyment out of it. People are amazed when they see me driving around in it. I think they have to do a double take.

"I had always loved the films after seeing them when they first came out and the opportunity arose to build my own, so I was not going to say no."

Father-of-four O'Neill found parts for the car from various places across the world to complete the project.

"I had to source all the parts, I made a lot of the parts myself as well, like the overhead panel," he explained. "Some pieces come from the internet and [some are] bits which I have bought on eBay and other auction websites. Without them, it would have taken twenty years to build.

"I have taken the car around the world. I have been to shows in France, Ireland and all over the place, and everywhere I go it gets a great response."

The release of 'Hoverboard' replicas from Back to the Future Part II was recently announced by Mattel.
