A tortoise 'marriage' has ended after 115 years of the animals being together.

Bibi and Poldi have fallen out and given up on the partnership that lasted longer than a century.

The cause of the break-up is thought to be the fact that Bibi bit off part of Poldi's shell. After this incident, staff at Happ Reptile Zoo, Austria had to separate the animals to be sure that they wouldn't do any more damage to one another.

The staff at the zoo even attempted to give the reptiles aphrodisiacs to calm their anger and make them attracted to one another again.

Zoo boss Helga Happ said: "For some reason they can't stand each other now but we hope they can make it up."

Although staff are disappointed that the world's longest animal 'marriage' has ended, they knew they had to separate them as the 100kg reptiles may kill each other if they are left in the same enclosure.
