Sue Barker shoots rocket launcher at Go Compare man in new ad - watch

Go Compare has launched a new self-deprecating advertising campaign.

Noting the general public's overall annoyance at the catchy 'Go Compare' jingle sung by Welsh tenor Wynne Evans (as Gio Compario), the company has launched its 'Saving the Nation' drive.

In a new television advertisement, Compario tries and fails to win over a family with his song, as they continue to ignore his advice.

Elsewhere, a masked assassin sets up and shoots a large rocket launcher, blowing up the tenor.

The markswoman is then revealed to be a very happy Sue Barker, before Compario emerges from the rubble.

Go Compare has also unveiled a series of new billboards across the country, which also deride the singer.

The large adverts show pretend vandalism over Compario's face, with the word 'Compare' scribbled out and replaced with phrases such as 'and get some singing lessons' and 'jump off a cliff'.

A Go Compare spokesman said: "The graffiti is part of a national poster campaign in relation to our new TV ad.

"Gio is very important to us, but we realise there are some people that don't love him in quite the same way that we do."

Go Compare recently came second to 'Just One Cornetto' as the UK's catchiest jingle.
