Two German boys have been charged with theft after selling their mother's jewellery and spending the money on a brothel.

According to German police, they were still grinning while they were being questioned.

The boys, 14 years old, stole jewellery worth a total of €3,000 (£2,400 / $3,900), but were conned as they only sold the valuables for €300.

They then used the money on two visits to a brothel in Karlsruhe, Germany, as well as pizza and kebabs.

Police spokesman Ralf Minet added: "One could still see a delighted smile on the faces of the thieves during their interrogation."
