Emergency services in Indiana County, Pennsylvania were called last Saturday (November 10) to rescue a hunter who had got stuck hanging upside down from a tree.

James Yoder, 63, was out in a wooded area of Brush Valley Township when his tree stand broke and his feet got tangled in the hunting contraption.

The man from Johnstown spent over an hour dangling from the branches, while his hunting partner held his head up.

A nearby firefighter phoned 911 when he heard a man's shouts, and he helped the emergency crews find the trapped hunter.

A spokesman for the Brush Valley Volunteer Fire Department and Citizens' Ambulance told The Indiana Gazette: "We had a good idea because one guy in the fire department, he hunts the same area. He had a good idea where [the tree stand would be].

"We have not figured out how he did it. The stand actually broke, and that's how he got tangled up in it."

Yoder was transported to Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
