Co-operative Food Twitter account posts topless picture

The official Twitter account of The Co-operative Food posted a self-taken image of an unnamed topless man today (November 20).

The photograph was quickly retweeted and commented upon by various users before the post was swiftly deleted by the account.

"Is he fair trade?" quipped Twitter user LollyGee in response to the photo.

"Hmm, sorry about that folks. Slight technical hiccup which we are still investigating - but we hope we gave you all a smile! *Mel," the account tweeted soon after the incident.

"Sorry about that! slight technical issue... whilst we have your attention, we have some great deals on at the moment!"

Accused of being "total morons" by one Twitter user, they replied: "Not quite morons, but affected by a technolagy (sic) bug which is being looked into."

The Twitter account, which has over 17,900 followers, posts messages on behalf of the ethical trading company.

The Co-operative Food is the largest division of The Co-operative Group and is the fifth-largest UK retailer with over 3,300 stores nationwide.
