Super Mario comes to life with beads in stop motion video - watch

By
A new video bringing the world of Super Mario to life using beads and stop motion photography has gone viral.

The video, which sees a beaded Mario make his way through a variety of real-world environments, has received 1.8m views since it was posted on YouTube last week.

The five-minute short film was created by Swedish brothers Hannes and Marcus Knutsson, and is the third in a series of Super Mario videos.

Marcus said that the pair were able to produce the film because "we have an interest in animated movies and Mario has an easy walk cycle".

"It's just switching between two images," he added.

Hannes described the techniques they employ in the video as "guerrilla stop motion", saying: "It should feel home made and inspire others to try. All you need is a camera and patience."

Mario and his Nintendo friends are a popular subject for viral videos, with the Italian plumber's adventures recently being re-imagined using Post-It notes and by a marching band.
