Virgin Media mocks Tesco, issues 'apology' over horse films

By
Virgin Media has issued an 'apology' for stating that some on-demand films said to star cows actually featured horses.

Riding on the media wave of the current horsemeat scandal, Virgin Media's statement closely mirrors that of the genuine apology Tesco released and posted in its stores following the revelation that horse DNA was discovered in some of its beef products.

The spoof apology from Virgin Media reads: "As some of our TiVo customers may have noticed, when searching through our tailor made collections of topical on-demand films, the collection, entitled #Mooovies, which promised a rich selection of films starring cows, did in fact contain films primarily featuring horses.

"We understand this is a very sensitive subject for our customers and we would like to reassure them that we have reacted immediately."

The statement continues to praise the "positive contributions" that both cows and horses have made to film and TV.

It was revealed on Thursday (February 7) that some beef Findus products contained up to 100% horsemeat.

We Apologise

At Virgin Media, we pride ourselves on delivering what we promise - whether it is the fastest broadband in the UK, putting three tuners in our TiVo boxes, or giving exclusive, epic mobile deals to our Virgin Media TV customers.

But sometimes, we make mistakes, and when we do, we owe it to our customers to put our hands up and apologise.

As some of our TiVo customers may have noticed, when searching through our tailor made collections of topical on-demand films, the collection, entitled #Mooovies, which promised a rich selection of films starring cows, did in fact contain films primarily featuring horses.

We understand this is a very sensitive subject for our customers and we would like to reassure them that we have reacted immediately.

As lovers of film and television in all its shapes and sizes, we would like to take this opportunity to mark the positive contributions that both cows and horses have made to cinematic and television culture, from Black Beauty to Raging Bull, and long may this continue.

If you have any concerns, you can contact us via our website, or if, like many, you would like to suggest silly puns about cows or horses and classic film titles, please tweet them using the #Mooovies hashtag, copying in our @MoviesOnVM handle.

So here's our promise. We will find out exactly what happened, we'll fix it and we will do all we can to ensure it never happens again.
