Three men from the UAE were taken away from a Saudi Arabian festival for apparently being 'too good-looking'.

Janadriyah - an annual culture festival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - was temporarily stopped on Sunday (April 14) while three men were escorted from the event.

Saudi religious police were drawn to the group upon seeing them at the festival's UAE pavilion, according to news agency Elaph (via Emirates 24/7).

"Three Emiratis were taken out on the grounds [that] they are too handsome and that the [festival] commission members feared female visitors could fall for them," said a festival official.

The festival's management are said to have taken urgent measures, deporting the trio to Abu Dhabi.

An unnamed female singer from the United Arab Emirates made a surprise visit and also drew the attention of religious police, according to the UAE delegation, but it is not clear whether her presence was linked to the decision to remove the three men from the festival.
