Protesters dress as badgers for flash mob - video

By
A flash mob made up of people dressed as badgers has taken to London to protest at the government's plans to cull the animals.

More than 50 people joined the flash dance outside the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs yesterday (May 1), donning badger costumes and face paint for the protest.

The crowd danced to Queen guitarist Brian May's version of 'The Badger Song', shouting: "Save our badgers".

May has been a vocal opponent of the government's plans to cull more than a third of badgers in the UK to stop the spread of bovine TB.

Speaking to PA, one of the demonstrators said that the cull is "not going to work".

"The much better option is to vaccinate," she continued.

"They haven't listened to scientific opinion, they haven't listened to the public, they haven't listened to wildlife experts.

"So hopefully, maybe, they'll listen to dancing badgers."

Defra plans to begin the cull later this summer.
