A pop-up horror hotel, inspired by the horror film Mama, is opening to the public.

'Survive Mama' begins today (June 10) at Holiday Inn Camden Lock to coincide with the Jessica Chastain movie's DVD and Blu-ray release on June 17.

As guests stay in hotel rooms designed to scare them, the experience promises a terrifying overnight experience for even the most hardened horror fan.

The most frightening moments of the film are played out each night, with sounds and smells helping to recreate the movie's chilling mood. Guests will also get visits from 'paranormal beings'.

Gary Oke, senior show producer for AtmosFEAR! Scare Entertainment, created the experience.

He said: "The Survive Mama experience is designed to play on your deep-seated genetic fears, and we've really ramped up the fear factor to create something that will have a lasting effect on those brave enough to try it out.

"The experience has been designed to trigger a physical and emotional release known as the 'fight or flight' response."

The Survive Mama experience is available until June 13.
