Anthony Puzo, the son of author Mario Puzo, has filed a lawsuit against Paramount over the video game adaptation of The Godfather.

Puzo sued the film studio on Wednesday, claiming $1 million in damages for breach of contract.

He alleged that his father signed a deal with Paramount in 1992 to hand over revenue from any "audio-visual" products that utilised elements from The Godfather films.

"In material breach of the audio-visual products agreement, Paramount has failed and refused to pay the Puzo Estate the sums due it in respect of the Godfather game," said the court document.

The suit added that Puzo had come to the agreement with Paramount because the studio paid an "extremely low price" when it originally optioned the film rights to his 1969 mafia novel The Godfather.
