'Top Gun' anthem free for 'Guitar Hero'

Games publisher Activision is to offer the Grammy award-winning Top Gun theme tune as a free download from tomorrow.

The guitar-heavy track, which is being given away free as a "fourth of July treat", was made famous during the dramatic flight scenes featured in the 1986 Tom Cruise movie.

The song will be available as a free download for Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock via the online portals Xbox Live and the PlayStation Store.
