An Irish regional newspaper reported that the Northern Ireland football team mistakenly stood to A Soldier's Song, a track normally sung by the Republic of Ireland soccer team.
The newspaper said that fans were 'surprised' when they heard the incorrect anthem, which should have been 'God Save The Queen'.
In response to the claim, EA spokesman Shaun White said: "At EA Sports, we pride ourselves on delivering rich and authentic video game experiences. We sincerely apologise for this error."
Northern Ireland Sports Minister Gregory Campbell welcomed the apology, stating: "Any apology on this matter is most welcome. Obviously there has been a lack of knowledge on the makers' part and hopefully it will be changed as soon as possible."
