Real Madrid to release football game

Fledgling Spanish publisher Virgin Play has secured a five-year deal with top-rated team Real Madrid in a bid to create an international best-seller.

According to trade paper MCV, the firm plans to release Real Madrid: The Official Videogame on Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, Wii, DS and PC in 2008.

Virgin Play is also believed to be considering using the brand in different ways - including taking it online.

A formal announcement about the game from Real Madrid Football Club will be made available late summer.
